How did you order the 5-speed knob? when I search for this part number all I get is the 4-speed knob.View attachment 2830822View attachment 2830818View attachment 2830810View attachment 2830811View attachment 2830812View attachment 2830813View attachment 2830815
I’m keeping my 6/1984 2F bellhousing and 3 pic transmission mounts so that will clock the H55 a few degrees to the right, I think? Can’t forget to grind for clearance on the 2F bellhousing to make space for the H55
Got the 5 speed round knob (PN 33504-60040) and the H55 shifter cane (PN 33530-60160) with boot n bushing from City Racer, @Racer65 . “Just” gotta heat and bend the cane for clearing the dash and probably my knee.
I also bought a post-85 transmission hump cover from @jkdur728 . The post-85 hump gives me the clearance needed for the t-case shift linkage w/o having to cut into mine
I can’t thank Jim enough for helping (read doing most of the work) with this swap. His Barn, tools and knowledge have been key

I have used drivetrain specialists twice and have had good experiences with themholy smokes... that's awesome. Need to check them out.
My experience with Drivetrain specialists in Kyle was confusing. My First FJ62 drive shaft wasn't even touched, they said it was balanced, no report given. Then I took the FJ60 driveshaft there and it was judged to be unbalanceable. They tried to build me one for ~$800. So I took it home and there isn't really any vibrations at any speeds.

There's another back ordered option. Not sure if these are 40 style or 60 style. But the shifter in an H55 should be M12, right?

I guess Alex' pic is a little confusing as it's in a bag with the part number. Did Toyota make these or are all of these aftermarket?
The blonde behind ya...? I'm off to Mexico!View attachment 2830825View attachment 2830823View attachment 2830824And then in the middle of this transmission replacement, my wife and I bust south to old Mexico for a week. For those folks that aren’t scared to travel in Mexico, go to Isla Holbox. You can thank me later
Cheers

I'm looking at doing this right now. Would love to get that spreadsheet. I have a 84' 60. How can I find out what version I have? there seems to be a couple version?Just an update
The new H55 and rebuilt tcase are installed and she is running great. I was actually passing folks in the left lane on my way home last night. I can’t thank @CenTXFJ60 Jimmy enough. I never thought I’d be making good friends at my age.
Now im starting to read up on upgrading the differential gearing from stock. From a dead stop and starting in 1st gear, im finding that I can’t make it through the intersection before having to shift. Or I just start in 2nd gear.
So im gunna put a quick 500 miles on the transmission/tcase then change out the fluid.
Im working on a spreadsheet with PN’s and cost if anyone is interested. But other members have already posted their build spreadsheet and mine is same-same ish.
View attachment 2851758View attachment 2851760View attachment 2851761I finally found a driveshaft shop that would lengthen my front driveshaft and not charge $600. If anyone is in the market go to “Inland Truck Parts & Service” (512-454-1488) off of 290 East. Fair price and quick turnaround. Tomorrow @FFMullins is installing his rear and I’m putting in my front. I just rolled over 500 miles on the new transmission/tcase and gunna drain, inspect and refill the fluid.
