So I’m having my first inspection for my hives tomorrow w/ the state apiarist. After that I’m hoping to register myself on the state site for an llc. I want to sell hives! I have too many. 7+ three splits in the works.
Planning on using the name Cruiser Queen Apiary. It’s available. What do folks think?
Been crazy hard at work making boxes. These plus 4 more… and a few more planks in the garage. All w/ a jig and circular saw alone. Even getting my rabbets perfect w/ the saw.
Someday I’ll get back to the truck!

I think that's awesome...
Here to you getting that Lic.
The name rocks too...!!

Bees need all the help they can get...!!

Passed my inspection w/ flying colors. Inspector had nothing but good to say. Even stated “you have a really nice establishment here, I really like it. I love your wooden ware too. You’ve got some really calm and strong hives.” ❤️❤️❤️
Four splits ready to rock. All have queen cells in them. They’ll emerge in a week to two and take their mating flights and be laying eggs in probably 4 weeks.

What you see is basically a total of 11 hives in 7 hive bodies. It’s an easy way to bide time to make equipment. The original queen is in the box backed w/ a queen card. The splits are marked w/ an Ace. They are divided by a double screen board or also referred to as a snelgrove board.

That’s awesome! Congrats!

Sorry no honey for sale… it’s all reserved. Shipping is a bitch from what I gather anyhow. My one pints are equal to 1.5lbs which are going for $20 a bottle. So far I’ve got 11 bottles. It’s a nice little cushion. Selling bees definitely made me more… almost $700 this spring I was able to pull in on bee sales.
I drew this up but a graphic artist friend (guy gave me my first tat at 21, haha!) simplified it for me.
Life is pretty okay. Kid is getting huge. My male dog died back 6/23… cardiac issues. My female seems okay but definitely missing him. She’s 14 and he was about 12.5/13. Bern looking for another male but even mixes are expensive as heck.
And single life has its pros and cons.

nice to see your update ........ :)

First ride for our new cattle/blue heeler mix… Rocket aka Rocky. I guess it’s true that all the boys do get overly excited to ride in a 60!
2yo pup… definitely in training to not kill cats or chickens. He got one chicken but basically just plucked all her tail feathers out… one cat and him met and he was pretty respectful of the hissing and claws. Other cat, Oscar, I haven’t seen in a day. Not much I can do, he’s always been super sensitive and nervous. Old lady neighbor says he’s often sleeping in her wood shed which made tons of sense because during the winter he’d often smell of wood!
Rocky is all of 40lbs and super sweet. He’s often literally at my feet every second. A smidge too mouthy w/ my females feet… tries to herd her around but she tells him or I intervene. So far awesome. Kid, Sal already overheard quietly saying “I love you” to him.
Unfortunately as we were getting nearer to home he thought it would be appropriate to bark once at every car that sped by us which was darn alarming! Will have to work that behavior out of him.
And yes, sorry, I suck, done nothing on truck other than roll in it here and there and enjoy it.

Absolutely nothing wrong with enjoying it, especially after all the work you’ve done. Live life, enjoy the fruits. Don’t signup for the eternal “I gotta be accomplishing something every day” nonsense. To each their own.

All bottled up. A special raffle package is on its way to the SAS.

Wow, the fruits of your labor. Some lucky soul will get to experience Connecticut honey from a fellow Cruiser head.
Much appreciated my friend.
Some day, hopefully soon, you will get to attend.

I'm studying fermentation so I immediately thought MEAD.
Yeah it’s a special sort of taste. Very sweet. I have some a guy made… I exchanged for elderberry cuttings. His is elderberry flower mead. Smidge too sweet for me. Or better as a winter drink.

Yeah, I don't see myself drink much of that. Mead is another name for Viking Foreplay.

Well she rolled over 200k at some point tonight. Serendipitously to me I see the 2008 and that was the year I bought my first 60. 🤣
