Brake Caliper Recommendations and Global Shortage? (1 Viewer)

Anyone know where I could get some OME front calipers for a '94 fj80? I've tried ordered through 3 different companies and all three times the order has been canceled due to availability...

Or does anyone have recommendations that are actually in stock? Tried to get Napa Eclipses and cant find those either.

I'd love to stop normally soon

I received new (not reman) OEM front calipers (4775060060 & 4773060060) for my 1994 from parts.serratoyota.com in October. I searched their site just now and they still seem to be available at $266.60 each.

edit: ignore my part numbers unless you like wasting money. read the @jonheld post below. looks like i overpaid by quite a bit.

Partsouq shows them in stock, but yeesh, that's spendy.

Why do you need new calipers? They're not hard to rebuild. The front seal kit (04479-60020) is $40ish per caliper, and pistons (47731-60010) are $10 - $20ish each, if yours are significantly corroded.

according to McGeorge just a couple weeks ago the 47730-60060/47750-60060 are indeed under backorder. they are orderable on their site, but they won't be able to get them. i instead went w/ the 96+ 47730-60061/47750-60061 calipers as they both available AND less expensive. still need to find time to install them.

my calipers are quite crusty and at least one piston is sticking. i want a quick swap, and i'll deal w/ rebuilding on my own time.

Super helpful thanks. However, it looks like the toyota parts site say that 47730-60061 and 47750-60061 dont fit my '94 . Can anyone confirm that this is actually the case? I'm wondering if the site's fitting software is just not up to date

If this is a true statement I would suggest upgrading to 4runner calipers. I cant speak for OEM and I went a bit above and beyond but the 80 series OEM calipers are far from ok. Just my .02. Zero regrets moving on from the 80 calipers and will address the rears eventually, I have had this 80 and loaded it up 20+ years and they suck no matter what anyone tries to tell you. Guessing you already made up your mind but it should be something for anyone with an 80 to consider,

I think there are a few different approaches here if you search. This is the link that drew me in. I have zero regrets going this route but the guys that wanted to do it on the cheap and simple seemed to have great results with their upgrades. You certainly don't have to take it as far as I did.
