G'day
my Hj61 12 HT starts flashing the warning lights when idling (not always) increasing the revs just slightly stops the warning lights flashing.
So my thought is that the idle revs are just a tad too low?
If this is the case where/how do I adjust the idling revs for a 12Ht?
Do we have a thread from one our clever member who know how do do this?

As always - very grateful for any help you can provide

Cheers

Hi there,

How high (or low) is your idle ?

Here's the basic procedure to adjust the idle in the case its out.

Thank you !
My idle is sitting around that figure - might just did below that - I am sure it only needs the slightest of tweaks as the slightest increase stops the warning lights from flashing

What is the publication you have taken that from - I have to get me one of these

btw - we lived in Central Otago for 20 years

That's out of the workshop manual.

You can find it in the net, free download.

Which warning lights are flickering ? alternator, oil pressure, vacuum, what else is there ?
It might be worth checking what is triggering them as the engine should be fine with a lowish idle like 600 rpm.
If you up the idle a tad - and this stops the lights from flickering thats fine. But check the engine and auxiliaries for peace in mind and certainly before you are going for a long range desert trip though.... It could be as simple as a slipping Alternator Belt.

This happens with some 12HT's when they get a few k's up.
It's often referred to as the 'stumble' and is usually worse when the AC is on due to the slight extra load at idle.
Usually increasing the idle speed slightly will fix it or at least help it.
I run my 12HT 5 speed at a tad over 700 at idle.
