Man, I love that scenery! What a country. I think you’re robbing us of photos!

Another 1000km (staying in one place for a few nights due to a covid case in the next state where I am heading and I don’t want to be stuck in one state with my famine in another…)
Spent today trying to catch a Barramundi… no luck, but it is amazing country!

Aaaaaahhhh!!! You gotta end the lockdowns! I need to visit Australia ASAP! This sounds like an amazing time, my friend...

The last few days have been absolutely amazing!!! I haven’t caught a fish, but have seen the most amazing country… being by myself I am up at 5am and on the road exploring by 5:30… any track on Google Earth I take to see where it ends…
Am currently sitting at Lake Argyle caravan park- listening to live music which is crazy as it is pretty much in the middle of nowhere..
Crossing into the next state and going more remote tomorrow!

I usually hang out in the 80 series forum, but your thread caught my eye. Damn, I've been to some remote places, but this puts me to shame. I don't think a non-Aussie could appreciate just how incredibly remote the areas you're passing through are. Glad to see you've got an EPIRB, I wouldn't go adventuring off the beaten track in the areas you're in without one, no matter what prep you've done and gear you've got with you. Just don't get bitten by a brown snake, a long way to the nearest hospital!

EDIT: Oh, and a good tip I've heard elsewhere, if you're thinking of doing a water crossing in the top end, ignore conventional wisdom and never walk it first. Don't want to become a meal for a croc!

Well, I made it to the Northern Territory (actually I made it here 5 days back but didn’t have enough phone signal to post…)
I camped on the Daly River and went for a fish in a boat - but the engine broke down… we paddled for over an hour to get back to the main river, but the concern was being stuck there at night due to the number of big crocs - and the risk of the current flipping the boat!! It wasn’t fun…
The family is with me now, which has changed the very simple single-guy camp setup!
The NT is absolutely amazing!!

I have now driven 7000kms since leaving home - and haven’t even arrived in Darwin yet! The 60 is going great - just keeping the cruising speed to about 100km/hr to look after it as the daily temps are near 40 degrees Celsius… I am getting around 13L/100 average on diesel.
Here are a few photos of Mataranka and Kakadu

It just keeps getting better and better!! Glad I’m following your journey, albeit from the other side of the globe.

Great trip reporting! I just returned from a trip into northern British Columbia and was
reporting daily to a friend in Perth! So trips and pics are criss-crossing the globe. Glad the
truck is treating you well as I should. Finest Land Cruiser there is!

We did a bit more exploring today (about 350km)….
Checked out the northern end of Litchfield National Park. It was busy, but still amazing! A couple of days back we did the Adelaide River Jumping Croc Tour, and got to see Brutus… He is big and ugly!! Photos don’t do his size justice, and the noise as he breathes out of his nostrils is something I would never want to hear at night in a creek!!
Also did an oil / filter / air filter change!

Being from southern Louisiana I know the feeling of fear in regards to massive dinosaurs swimming around the waters. My father, when he was a teen, walked up on a 16” alligator basking in the sun while at a state park. He and his cousin thought it was a fiberglass model because it had its mouth wide open, motionless. They threw sticks and rocks at it but it never moved. An hour later they walked by and it was gone. All the sticks and stones were still lying about. They were maybe ten feet away from it. Those things are respectably terrifying!

I got up early and drove about 200km to go for a fish today.. the Northern Territory is all about the Barramundi. The NT Governemnt has tagged a heap with $10000 tags, and a few with $1 million tags. This is a tourism promotion and gets a lot of people trying for the ‘million dollar fish’… I didn’t get a tagged one today (didn’t even get a sized one) but caught about 20 Barramundi over a few hours…
I spent a lot of $$ on the suggested lures, but got them all on old lures that have been sitting in my tackle box for years!!
