I have a late model factory FJ40 AC Evaporator unit. This was removed back in the early 80's. There is also the factory relay. I believe that it came out of a 1981. I don't know what the value of this unit is, but I do know that they are rare. This unit does not have the corner vents, just the 2 front vents. I can package and ship if needed, shipping will be from 84040. Please PM if you can use this for your restoration and we can negotiate the pricing.

I don't think that this model ties into the heater duct.
Based on what I see it draws cabin air in through the intake and out over the coils.

you are correct it does but the stock non a/c heater duct won't fit behind the unit when it is mounted.
the a/c heater duct is a different shape to fit behind the unit.

To clarify, the duct between the heater blower (under the hood) from the firewall to the housing with the heater core is a different shape to get around the A/C unit mounted under the dash. The unicorn duct. Somebody needs to fabricate these.

I’m curious now. I know the set up I have has the “unicorn” duct. I pulled the whole thing myself. I just am wondering if the ac unit I have is the same as the one pictured.

for OEM install there are a few other special parts but they can be worked around and not really needed.

For your reference, the unicorn duct (but for RHD) — note the angled shape which allows for the knee freezer to sits in the footwell. The LHD is essentially the same but it’s “flipped”.

My 1982 has the corner vents, I think yours is an earlier model.

It is. This kind was installed from '79 to sometime in early '81 I think.
I have seen mid and late '81's with the moveable corner vents

I got the evaporator yesterday. It was packed really well.
I haven't hooked it up to test blower motor and resistor but hope to do that soon!
