Glad to see you dug it up instead of just grinding it off. My CE wife would have thrown up a red flag. Congrats on the building! We bought our retirement home last summer and it has a 40' x 40' with 16' walls and HVAC. Can't wait to get it kitted out with a lift, etc.
Thanks WDE! It wasn’t cheap but it was the correct solution. It was also pretty quick.

I finally have the building site cleared and ready for construction. That’s my good friend and fellow Cruiser Head Scott and my neighbor Dan.

Is your place inside some city limit? Otherwise, I'm surprised you would need any permits in AL.

I'm in the county but permits are now required there as well. The rules of engagement are not as strict in the county though.

OK, I'm still surprised that Alabama would be more strict than Texas. For all of my shop, apartment, and house building, I only needed one single permit in my rural Texas county - for the septic system. Absolutely everything else is "do whatever you want, it's your place".

I built a whole house with the same ^^. I think Mike is in Madison county, which has a lot of Huntsville bleed over I'm sure.

I'm guessing it's about 50:50 in Alabama; depending on the county but you would always, for example, need a permit for a septic tank regardless of which county (appreciate that probably doesn't apply to this garage).

The trusses were delivered today. Hopefully the posts will be set next week.

I prefer to get a roof on it so that you can more easily keep the concrete moist while it cures.

While waiting for the concrete crew, the weather and my travel schedule to align, I found a sink for the shop. It’s not exactly what I was looking for but it will work. Below are before and after pictures of the cleanup.
