So I just got my knuckle sand blasted locally. I figured $20 was worth it to blast it and rattle can it while I was rebuilding my front axel. Unfortunately the shop forgot my instructions to NOT blast the gasket mating surfaces. My question is what’s the best way to polish the mating surfaces back to a smooth finish? I don’t want to have to scrape a gasket off this porous surface next time I rebuild my knuckles or have anything leak.

Got a big bench stone? if not they're available at HF. Oil the stone well with WD-40 or other light oil and stone it lightly in a random pattern.
It will be fine.
