The project:
1. Disassemble vehicle, remove doors, tailgate and hatch.
2. Strip paint to bare metal.
3. Replace both fenders.
4. Close all holes in rocker panels from trim.
5. Remove seam sealer in roof gutters, and windshield area, repair any rust, seal again.
6. New lower door skin replacement panels. Sand blast remaining rust, seal bare metal and new seam sealer.
7. New quarter panels and any rusted sections of inner fenders.
8. New doglegs and rear section of rockers.
9. Replace A pillar gutter sections.
10. Exterior paint, B/C, wet sand, and polish.

Quarter panel lower, dog led and rear rocker replacement. This vehicle had previously been in some silt or mud at to its ankles. Rear rocker was packed tight with it. Now I have a dirt mould to shape the new metal off of!!

So, the seam sealer in the lower door looks totally fine, no signs of rust. And the other picture is after I removed the sealer. Rust all underneath. Sometimes you can’t see the rust until the skin is removed, if it hasn’t progressed far enough yet. This is on every door I work on, honestly.

Awesome.

Pics of the new shop??

Wow! Crazy to see this. I’m so glad it’s getting taken care of before it’s catastrophic! The only door I really knew had a small rust issue in the seam was the ds rear door.
I know, this is what everyone thinks. I can see why but really any water that drips off the window will go right in the bottom. So they all must have rust I would assume.

Very interesting pics
wonder what you will find on the doors of mine when you get to it~~~
