What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend? (92 Viewers)

Over the last couple of weeks I've installed a new rear sway bar, LCP rear sway bar links, an ARB front bumper, a Comeup Seal Slim 12.5 winch, and a set of Baja Design LP6s. This weekend instead of working on it, we took it out and enjoyed a few days exploring the Chippewa National Forest.

Always cool to see another Minnesota 80

Rear axle rebuild and reseal. All new parking brake shoes, brake pads, and rotors. Also wired up a Lincoln Continental fan to the LS ECU and got it programmed. Wiring will be tucked away soon.

More parts for my conversion...

Grabbed non-ABS knuckles. Decided to do S15+13A front calipers, because those came standard on almost all non-ABS 105s

Going to try the 200 series caliper bolts. (00+100/105 front caliper non-washer bolts as comparison) Both M12x1.25

I got the protector from eBay seller darkwing1788, who promptly issued me a second one after the first one went missing. Both ended up being delivered eventually, so now I got two. Since I don't need two, I figured I'll give back to the mud community a little. If you pay the shipping to wherever you are, I'll put it in the mail. DM me if you're interested - first come first serve. GONE!
His ebay ad pics are spot on!

Drug this home January 2019. Got it running a few weeks ago. Finally got a title and plate. Crazy that something so seemingly modern is an antique to the BMV.

Welcome to the club. Just remember that you're not really allowed to daily drive historical plates in Ohio.....not that anyone would really check though.

ordered an arb front bumper for mine.
new wipers on hers. also checked the fluids and took it for a drive just to ensure all is still well.
i dont even have that cruiser anymore....it was scrapped

Quoting your own post from 9 years ago?

Neat idea.

Finally got a chance to take my 80 off the pavement! Went out to the Kyburz area (Silver Fork rd) and explored a few of the dirt roads out there. It was just the wife and I and her parents, so I didn't want to try anything crazy.

And I still managed to get stuck!!! Made a total noob mistake. Took a wrong line on hill and got hung near the transfer case. Spent about an hour digging and adding rocks under the tires to free myself. Next mod: bumper and a winch!

I'm very new to the off road world so this was some fun practice. Hope to get into the more technical stuff as time goes on.

Enjoy the pics!
