Okay, this is taking it to the "limit"

I was lucky enough to spend a month mapping the geology up there while in school. Mapped around Faucherie and Sawmill Lakes. It was pretty empty, way back then.

While mapping along the ridge west of Haystack Mountain we found the remnants of an old flume built in the talus slope. All the wood was long gone but there were a ton of square nails.

One of my favorite fossils came from near Quartz Hill.
Lots of fun stuff like that around there if you poke around. Some amazing rock work associated with those flumes too...

Bowman lake used to be a huge meadow before the turn of the century. Naturally there was also a lot of Native American activity there as well. Which is what I have fun looking for...

I have the same springs sitting here in a box. I have a similar front end, but have the 1" spacer welded in to my Delta air bump holder ... So I'm, a little worried that 3.5" is going to equal 6 ... Which is going to be way taller than my shocks will handle and won't play nice with my 4" delta arms.
My 2.5" VT Dobinson front springs came out to 4" + some. Took me a bit to figure out correct castor settings. Sell the 3.5 and get the 2.5

Just installed - Front came out on the money. I have a 3 1/2" VT spring with a 1" spacer. Came out at 4.75 overall before any settling. Rear is a bit high.

So 3.5" front and rear put you a little over 4"? I have a 4" lift (OME) and want Dobinsons that'll sit around the same.

Did most of my 100,000 miles service. (Actually at 97,307)

Currently at 314900 miles (I have put on about 118700 miles since I've owned it. That's a 9 year average of 13,188 miles/year. In 2014 it sat for three months after it blew the radiator and I gathered parts and went through it front to back. That's when it became my DD, basically in late November of 2014.

Changed front differential oil (2.8 qt 80W-90 MasterPro GL-5 gear oil)
Changed rear differential oil (3.4 qt 80W-90 MasterPro GL-5 gear oil)
Changed Transfer Case oil (1.8 qt half 75W-90 and half 75W-140 Royal Purple GL-5 gear oil) (because I had it)
Added 3/4 tube Valvoline Palladium to each front knuckle (I had started to notice some clicking in tight turns)
Greased all 4 u-joints
Greased both DS yokes
Installed new intake hose between air filter and throttle body
Installed new Denso Spark Plugs (Gapped 0.031", torqued to 15 LB-FT)
Installed new Spark Plug Wires (Toyota)
Installed new distributor cap (Toyota)
Installed new rotor assembly (Toyota)

I inspected the rear of my valve cover seal and it is still dry.
I inspected my spark plug tube seals and they are still dry.
My belts are squeaking again but... :meh:
I see I have some oil drips on the front lower part of the transmission bell housing. I am assuming these are from the upper oil pan arch seal needing to be done. IDK if it has ever been done. PO did the HG at 145K and did it the right way.

Next service items will be cooling system maintenance with mostly new hoses, heater valve replacement, rear heater hard line bypass, PHH, and all the other cooling hoses I can swap. Also will be T-Stat, gasket, and triple O-Rings on t-stat bypass or whatever that is behind the t-stat housing that leaks.

I'm due for new crush sleeves and pinion seals on F/R differentials, and I already own them, I just cannot find them. I will install my new rear DS when I find them and do the seals.
I am also due for caster plates and a rear control rod lift bracket, before I get my new tires.

I need new tires. My 285/75-16 Duratracs have served me well for that 97,307 miles. I think I got my money's worth out of them.

When I do the tires and those things, I will also do the fuel filter under the intake manifold. I need to psyche myself up for that one.
Also new engine mounts and that will complete my driveline rubber replacement since I've owned the truck.

I'm happy with the look of my old spark plugs. Bottom of the pic is #6, then up to #1, in order. Looks like the front 3 are running slightly leaner than the back 3. The gap was well over 0.050" A little darker on #6 might be where I'm getting my regular P0401 code. All-in-all, it tells me that my engine is healthy. I don't burn any oil on 6000+ miles oil changes, and I know where my coolant is leaking (externally).

Well, I had to do another part on my 100K Service.....

New tires.

I've been fighting a RR tire that kept going down and discovered it was leaking through the sidewall. I dumped a bunch of Slime in it to slow it down so I could get my other wheels cleaned up and ready to go.

I backed out if the driveway and by the time I got 5 houses down, my RF tire was nearly flat. I pulled back to the driveway and could hear the air hissing out of it.

I dropped my spare, and it was flat.

So, three out of five are leaking, at least one seriously.

So I made a call to Discount Tire and they had a set of 4 ready within a few hours and I bought a set of five Goodyear Duratracs 285/75-16 again.

I got 97773 miles out of the first set, so I'm signing up again.

Still a few more things to do, but I like doing it all in a short time so it's done and I can just drive it.

Well, my first drive with the new tires today.....

Smooth, quiet, very stable in the rain.

Came across a guy in a Chevy 3/4T that was dragging a dump trailer full of gravel. He hooked the edge of the road, went sideways and the trailer went about 100 ft sideways in the ditch dragging the pickup with it, but the front of the pickup stayed on the road, while the trailer was backed into the very muddy ditch.

He was obviously stuck and only had street tires. He couldn't figure out how to get it into 4L, do I showed him how, then hooked up my 80 with my brand new tires.

Had a 30 ft tow strap on it and I was on the pavement. We tugged at it a whole bunch, but I failed to extract him and the trailer from the ditch.

He had about 10K lb.of gravel in the trailer with it loaded too heavily on the tail, do it wagged the dog, hard.

The trailer was buried in mud up to the axles.

He called his buddy with a dump truck full of gravel and he came over and yanked him out. I didn't stay for that part of the job.

I was disappointed that my LC didn't get the job done, but all 4 tires barked nicely on the pavement.
I have pulled city semi trucks out if the mud before, but this one was in deep.

Just hurt my pride a little, but had fun testing it.

No pics because we were in traffic on a busy country 2 lane highway.

The cruiser has been being driven as my pizza delivery car (hey don’t judge money is good) and road trip car for the past 2 months now since my last beater with a heater died. But today I found a new cheap daily that I am super excited about! I found this miata that looks super clean but would crank but not start. I decided it was worth the risk so I decided to tow it on home. So I called up U Haul and thought I ordered a car dolly. Turns out I did not and I reserved a dual axle trailer. Didn’t really know how would it would do with RTT on top and all my other crap but it totally blew my mind! Loaded up with a 3,000 Miata and what had to be a 1,000-2,000 pound trailer I honestly did not feel it nearly as much as I thought. 65-75 AC on and with the occasional downshift taking it out of overdrive and it was easy as could be. Coolant temps never got over 192. Supercharger makes a world of difference genuienly it would not speed up super fast but from the drive from Denver to Colorado Springs it never got to the point where I had to floor it it really did maintain speed really well and never felt weak. Besides the brakes I am really happy and comfortable towing with it.

Got the Miata home and believe it is dead due to a bad fuel pump but we will find out for sure tomorrow

Just picked it up after fresh paint. Got to say Maaco crushed it!

Got rid of the low hanging hitch, built my own receiver hitch and installed it in the bumper.

Miata will be fun and they're easy to work on. This is the place for Miata info MX-5 Miata Forum - https://forum.miata.net/vb/index.php.

I accomplished one more task toward swapping the engine in the 80. I was unsure how to hoist the transmission so that I could bolt it to the 1FZ but with a couple of sawhorses, heavy pipe, ratchet straps, and block of wood it actually was an easy process.
