HI guys I live in Australia And have a 93 fzj80 vx sahara Been having trouble with my ecm and tcm The question is has anyone come across an 80 with a auto ecm behind the glove box with also a tcm up behind the steering wheel Because all my searching can not find any info on why I would have 2

mine has 4
I find it strange that they need 2 modules to talk to the box

4 plug for engine module. 95-97 have OBD2 with integrated TCM in ECM module

Feel lucky that they are separate devices. When it comes to replacing these parts as an example these are the part numbers for my 94 model which are going to be very similar to the 93 model year

For the 95 and up being a combined device the cost is much higher. It you have a problem related to the transmission control I would much prefer to replace the TCM or $436 versus spending $1,009.

All of those parts are now discontinued but in the used market the price differences are going to be similar.

All that said problems with the ECM and TCM are very rare. Most problems are related to the control solenoids themselves that control the valve body.
