So I’ve been trying to fix up my 40 when I realized the front drive shaft wasn’t spinning freely. So I put the tcase in neutral and it still wasn’t spinning. So I started to mess with the hubs but they were free and the front wheels spun freely. Then I was moving back and forth and going through all the gears and the front drive shaft was still spinning then I was messing with the linkage and that wasn’t it. Now I just don’t know if I have a Broken shifting fork or what. any ideas would help me out a ton

When was the last time it was taken apart and reassembled? My oldest rebuilt our transmission and transfer case a few years back and reassembled the transfer case shifter backwards. The unit would not shift out of 4WD. It was a quick fix.

what year are you talking about?
