Nice truck. Glad your fixing it! I think the Spring Spout looks like a vintage RV freshwater fill port. Was there any kind of tank mountings inside of it? Save it.

There are holes everywhere, I'm sure they had a water tank mounted inside at one point. That's got to be it! :D

Are these attachments factory? I have them on both sides. Rivets attached.

Made some progress on the transmission hump repair.

It fits pretty well. And no extra holes! Only 200+ to go.

Got the windshield pulled off. Thankfully it looks rust free and same with the channel on the body. More holes though…

The top has rot on one side. Roof is all there. Gonna take some work getting the gutter rail cleaned up.

For the most part, I’m really happy with what I found so far though. The body looks good. It is definitely a 65 or earlier top put onto a 66 body. There’s some fit issues, especially around the door openings and the windshield. I want to keep it a hard top and work with what I have.

Some of those hole on the windshield front face could be from snaps to hold a soft top on. Check the holes on top of windshield frame, they might be threaded from the factory to hold a windshield soft top channel.

The holes across top of the windshield are for attaching the channel for factory soft top. Should be seven of them. Would think a fixed nut would be at each hole. From the mid sixties thru the later seventies FST and FHT were made to except the other type of top.

Just FYI,
67 windshield frame (one year only, IIRC)
65 or earlier corrugated top
Later model steering column

Thanks! What makes the windshield a 67?
The windshield latch plates that mount with 3 screws are only on 67. On a 66 the Latch plates only take 2 screws, and 68 is the first year for using the black screw knobs for holding the windshield

Making progress. Got the windshield brackets off. They were rusted at the captured nuts and I ended up having to drill out all the Phillips bolts. I’m glad I did it though. Rust was forming and I had another hole to weld up.

I need to find a donor corrugated dash somewhere. Anybody got one? If I can’t find one I may need to try to fab something myself that looks close to stock.

It says local pick up only, but you might be able to work something out. You can say its not a FJ25 dash to maybe bring value down.

The windshield latch mounts on the dash tell me 65 or 66.

I know you are concentrating on body work right now, but when it becomes time for suspension, I know you'll dump your quadruple over-sprung rear end for something simpler and nicer. Keep in mind that off road vehicles pull 9 times the forces on the front end as rear end (partially due to heavy engine front/empty bed rear). When Downey was in business we sold Landcruiser owners single ultra-soft valved rear shocks. Right now your rear end would bounce up off the ground on every little bump you hit, and you'd catch it in the back of the neck every time.

When it comes time for engine work/tune up, pull the air cleaner and see if you can spot a vent chimney sticking up out of the Holley about 3" tall. Look at my ebay #254412375238, especially the 3 drawings, this explains how to set the Holley up for off road use- - -easy deal. Also, I'd add an electric choke, Holley #45-223.

When it comes time for rear tail lights, take a gander at my ebay #254943202837, sweet deal.

How magnanimous of you to take on a rescued charity case! 😁 😁 😁 😁 😁.

Nice GSP, also! I've had 6, 1q left (she's 12+) and have a pointing Griffon, now.
