I am rebuilding a 3FE engine and I haven’t gotten my engine manual yet. On the 2F there is a head bolt that is skinnier. My understanding it was for the oil gallery passage thing. The 3FE does not have a skinnier head bolt. Does the 3FE head not have one skinnier head bolt?

These are the headbolts used on the 2F and 3F-E. Each one uses 15 bolts but it looks like the 3F-E uses two longer ones instead.

Man I really wish ARP made a head stud set for the 3FE.

I know that contributes nothing. Just throwing my wishful thinking out there.....

I get it. There’s not much out there. I bagged and numbered each one but didn’t compare them. Good information. Thanks

So as long as I got it correct, two long bolts on the bracket and no narrow one for oiling.

Why though, completely no point on this engine lol

The 2F and 3FE head bolts are the same (90910-02050) besides the two at the front left of the 3FE cylinder head that are longer to accommodate the smog pump bracket. These are the ones @OSS is referencing with 90105-13005

On a performance level, I completely agree. You can get much more consistent torque across multiple fasteners when you're torqueing a nut onto a stud or onto a bolt than you do when torqueing a bolt. Granted these engines already last 300K+ miles without head gasket & head issues, but it's admittedly one of my weird OCD quirks.

I did NOT know though that the 2F and 3FE head bolts are the same. My smog pump is long gone so I could probably eliminate the bracket if/when the head ever gets pulled. That's a good thing to know.
