Saw a rig like yours on the Boeing freeway I think last week. I was in my green armored 80 on 35’s rushing to make an appointment.:bang::)

Yep pretty sure we saw each other, i'm pretty sure i was going to work. i've seen your green rig around here, i also saw one just like mine same color but lifted on 35's with a few rear window stickers as well. There's a teal colored one i always see around too, has custom plates, i think he's a medivac pilot per his plates.. also lifted and it has a V8 badge..

The lifted LX like yours with stickers on the back window is mine too. I switch between the two.:)

Anybody want to ‘fess up’ to being the white FZJ with lift, tires, armor & a rack with a bunch of stickers on it?

I wave from my Tundra (AKA ‘bro truck’ :hillbilly: ) whenever I see you on HWY 20 - you generally head for Deception Pass / Oak Harbor at the roundabout.

Enlisted my minion to install the CDL switch and do the pin 7 mod.

now this particular vehicle was from california and i know for a fact this thing only ever saw mall pavement... so i was messing with high and low and the diff lock, i was unable to get any lights to display in the cluster, i also had the hardest time engaging low range, felt like i was going to break the darn lever off, but i know i was able to get it into low, i could also hear i'm assuming the cdl actuator turning on and off. anyone else have issues with a truck that only ever saw pavement?

edit* just found the "no abs or cdl lights" thread, will have to investigate further...

So I got my wheels and tires mounted up, advan racing RGD2 in 17x8.5 -10 on Yokohama geolandar G003 M/T in a 295/70/17. Then santa came though on christmas eve with some delta LCA'S 2" correction version. I have the full compliment of new Toyota bushings to do the front of the truck. Along with that are a set of new 555 tie rod ends and Marlin Crawler HD tie rod and drag links. Yes I am freezing the bushings to shrink em the teeniest bit to aid in the pressing in, shouldn't be an issue though, pressed many wheel bearings and bushings in my time.

busy weekend here, pressed in new toyota bushings in the delta 2" arms and front pan hard bar, then got them installed with the marlin crawler HD tie rod and drag link and new 555 tierod ends. got an alignment, caster is now at 2.2 degrees with the delta arms, no idea what it was with the stock arms. drives like a dream now! the 1fz has some large oil leaks from the timing cover that i will not be addressing as of now because i will be pulling the engine for some "stuff" in the hopefully near future, but in the mean time i created 2 tin shields to keep oil off the bushings, the drivers side pan hard bushing rubber was so mushy from being constantly soaked in oil.. also picked up a viair 88p compressor and am very satisfied with my first test results. it was cold out high 30's but it pumped up my 295/70/17 in roughly 2 min from 10ish psi to 36psi, i will say that i don't believe the pressure gauge is very accurate, but that is fine as i have a good gauge to check with after compressor got up to around 120 degrees around the heatsink area. lastly, picked up a set of injector dynamics 725cc injectors... for... some stuff... stay tuned

This came together quickly! I think I need one of those mounts. So I’m assuming there is a turbo happening here with the ID725’s 😮

lol ya i got pretty crazy with it, i'd like to think i'm done with phase 1 of the build but i have a few other little details i want to button up first. Then i will just focus on enjoying it through the rest of winter and next summer. Then phase 2 of the build which as you guessed includes positive intake manifold pressure and a few other items :) the mount setup is great, fairly inexpensive and is very adjustable highly recommend looking into it.

Been enjoying the truck a lot so far, picked up a long block on the cheap as a base to do a full engine build. Started taking it apart and was curious on what the piston and rod weights were and man was I surprised, rods came in right around 900 grams and around 780 for the pistons  o_O pretty crazy in my opinion lol! I have a few options I'm playing with but its looking like I can shave off 100/200 grams per rod and almost 300 grams per piston, for a savings of about 1lb per hole so 6 lbs in total. We'll see what happens though.

OK! so it's been a minute but i have some updates... I haven't really outlined what my plans are so i figured i would spill the beans.. I plan on using this rig for touring, forest roads, dispersed camping, exploring etc... No major rock crawling or anything like that, its honestly in too good condition in my opinion. I plan on getting or building a small towable trailer which i would setup as a base camp that possibly included an rtt and storage for all the stuff 4 people need to go out for several days at a time. the trunk is fairly small and camping several times already i have maxed out space inside and on a basket on the hitch, i do plan on putting a rack on top but no RTT on the truck and no drawers cause i feel like that is useless added weight as well. I'd rather keep it on an trailer i can disconnect.

As far as the mechanicals go i am rebuilding a block i got with some lighter forged internals, late model distributor less head, 2nd gen garrett gtx3582r turbo and a brand new H151f. Engine will be run on a standalone PROEFI 128 system. i'm still collecting some parts but the bulk of the items are here. pics to come

The coolant neck is oval shaped on the late model head and the early model won't fit unless you do a little bit of modding, so I decided to just get the new parts. The old outlet has a little kink vs being completely oval and the gasket won't fully cover the late model outlet hole. You could weld it up but it was cheap enough to buy the new parts

The turbo has a divided v band inlet, tubing is 321 stainless steel, I have a cheap little Chinese tig I will be tacking everything with and my buddy who is a master welder/ foreman at Puget sound navel yard will be doing all the finish welding.
