The A750F in the Tacoma was actually quite good. It was the pathetic V6 that powered it was the problem.
The engine is meant for a camry/avalon not the taco. There was no point in having 6th gear on that trans with the amount it hunts to stay in power

Not disagreeing - but the gear hunting and shift logic of the AT is a software problem. Going out on a limb that losing a mile or two in your mpg ratings for the EPA of a vehicle distributed at that volume wouldn't have been a good look.

Either way, while still slow... It was an enjoyable vehicle with the manual trans.

Yea the manual is way better for the new tacos. The AT logic of upshifting so early doesn't work with the power band of that engine.

Totally agree that it had to do with CAFE rules and what not, but just doesn't make it nice to drive.

Immediately before - 100 Series (kept) and sold the IS350 F-Sport to get the LX570.

Some really great pics/info in this thread...Thanks to all, for that! I don't have time, just now, to list absolutely everything before my current 200/etc., but the most recent/meaningful follow. You may note a pattern...lol

Current: 2020 LX 570, 2017 GX 460, 2020 F250 King Ranch Tremor 7.3l, 2002 F250 7.3l, 2013 Corolla, 1947 CJ2A, 1951 LR

Short list (some owned at same time), from most recent to a few from days of yore: 2018 LC200, 2016 LC200, 2019 4Runner TRD Offroad Premium, 2014 4Runner Trail, 2008 FJ Cruiser, 2004 4Runner V8, 1994 4Runner, 1979 Toyota truck, 1994 Carrera 4, 1986 and 1987 944s, various Jeeps, "a few" other trucks, two VW Bugs. Yes, that's the short version, and I'm only 44. Yes, I have a bit of "a thing" (illness?) for vehicles...lol

Too many vehicles to list, but suffice it to say we aren’t rich... never will be....largely because we bought way too many vehicles.... including one we really miss we owned when we lived briefly in Australia. It was a 2007 LC Prado with a 4.0L V6 petrol..... If we could get one of these here in the US, we would own one! The Lexus GX isn’t the same, at least not a 2018 we just test drove with a 4.6L V8!

what an amazing LC! Put 11000 KM on it in 89 days throughout QLD.....including an amazing trek to and all around Frazier Island....which my friends us a bucket list thing every off road enthusiast needs to experience... and the Prado was truly brilliant!

very few cars I’ve owned would I want again.... but the Prado is at the top of the list. The 4l V6 blows away the US spec V8!.... just a perfect LC!

3x 3 series BMW
