Bought a cylinder head from a local company. almost 6 months later my kzn130 is still collecting dust in the garage, head off. First one came, installed it, had numerous leaky valve seats/ valve clearances out of spec (also came with metal filings). They sent another, this one had incorrect valve clearances, one leaky valve, and a scratch on the deck rendering it useless. I'm paying 900$ for quality, I think that the fact that the company that makes them doesn't inspect them before they are sent off speaks to the quality. Fella named John Gabor recommended a well-known outfit in AU that makes good heads and rebuild kits but he can't remember the name, said if I asked here Rosco will know the name of the company? I just want an affordable and quality head that comes perfect and ready to go. (already looked into onllineautoparts: didn't find a head, partsouq: no kzn130, and I'm currently trying to contact roughtrax about their fully built AMC head).

Have you tried atomic heads? Pretty sure they use genuine heads and refurb them. Personally I wouldn’t touch a non-genuine head... have you priced one up from Toyota and you fit the gear?

Actually either my memory has failed or atomic have changed their site/business style. But what about this Genuine Toyota Hilux 1KZTE Cylinder Head Long Valve Type
It says 1kzte but it has 6 cylinders?? 1kz is a 4 banger. If I could find anything like this that suits the kzn130 i would def jump on it, but I can't find anything like it. For model there is no hilux surf option on toyota's website, would you choose just choose the model as "hilux" if there is no surf option?

yeah I reckon, so long as you get the year right - ultimately you’d want to confirm it via part number though. I reckon that’s just a stock photo - looks like an FTE head. 1KZ-TE is the giveaway, they never made them in 6 cylinder (well they sort of did - It’s called a 1HZ-T)

I sent them an email inquiry, thanks!

said if I asked here Rosco

I cant think of any place that specialises in 1KZ heads. But if Nunawading Toyota have them , it stands to reason other dealers have them around the world and they might be cheaper.
Is this for a 95 series?

He just said there‘a an outfit in australia (other than partsouq or onlineautoparts.com) that specializes in heads and comeplete rebuild kits, not 1kzte specific. I’m gonna do some more digging into the dealerships, but of a goose chase but i’ll see what I can find. Not a 95 series, i’ve got a 94 kzn130 1kzte surf.

Engine Australia appear to have that , but you have to fill out the form to get price and availability. KZN130 hilux is in their data base.

If you search under "cylinder head australia", it gives you a heap of results.

"All Head Services" (AHS) is another company that has been around for decades.

I'll look into those. I have contacted Kiwi cylinder heads and they can send me one for 850 cad + shipping, have you heard of them and would you trust them?

I put one of their cylinder heads on a mates W series Mazda Bounty about 5 years ago. It came fully built, no issues and he's still driving it.

We have an enormous collection of JDM Toyota 1KZ's here in NZ. So there's a solid industry replacing heads on them.

I have heard of KiwiCylinder heads but have no experience with them. I would be asking anyone selling heads about where they come from. I suspect they will be chinese, but they may come from a toyota factory in China. Or they maybe chinese blanks that get the final milling done in Australia or NZ
