I would kill to have the 3FE/H55 combo in mine. With a previous V8 swap I'm not sure what it would take to bring it back.
Love the history on this one, cool story definitely following your build!

The challenge remains on the actual AC unit that will power my vents. Looked at all the common units that people are using. They either take to much space or are ugly as hell. Had seen a thread on MUD about the availability of these Denso heaters online and thought how cool it would be to use the casing somehow to cover an AC system. So managed to get one and waiting for Seb and his ingenuity to make it happen.

Having decided to upgrade the drivetrain on this build it only made sense to also upgrade the steering components. So it was decided to use an 80 series booster and master and steering box. That needed some modifications that altered the LV for life. A change worth doing in my opinion.
The first thing to do was to modify the chassis to relocate the steering box from an 80 series which we found at the junkyard. After that, we needed to modify the firewall to match an fj40 to be able it install an 80 series booster because the LV firewall had a support in the wrong place.

The transmission tunnel cover was also modified in such a way that we could service it with just removing the top cover without having to remove the original large one. Great Idea by the workshop.

At this point in the build, we started talking about colours and it really took us a while to decide on the colour.
Was a very confusing part of the build. We started looking at the factory colours but wanted more torques options so we started looking around for options to decide as we liked the spring green and would decide between those two when we had done this exercise.

Did some photoshop samples to get an idea of how these colors sat on the body.

Some pictures of the final selection. Yes its, not a Toyota colour. Seafoam green GM colour because we could not find spring green.
Loved how it changes colour in a different light.

Then Corona Struck. So just having bought the paint the lockdown was inforced and the shop couldn't spray the colour. If I remember correctly they had sprayed the white and had the car masked off but couldn't go to the shop. At some point, they were allowed to go for a few hours a day and during this period the car got sprayed.

So when the lockdown was lifted and I was allowed to pass by the shop to see the colour I was shocked. It took me a few minutes for it to sink in. Was it the corona time gap or the colour its self was off, I really don't know but it took me some time to accept the colour? We rolled the car out into the sun to have a good look at it.

With the body and doors on, the truck is starting to take shape.

So now we are up to date. Nearly 2 years in 3 days. I have highlighted all the major milestones thus far.

Waiting for sound and heat shields to go into the doors and roof. Brake and fuel lines, New SS exhaust, electrical work, Interior upholstery, Battery tray, AC, Glass and weatherstrip. I'm sure there are a bunch of other things that I have failed to mention but when they come up I will share them.

We are so close but still far from the end line.
