Rebuild: Warn Winch, Series 8000, Model 5721 (1 Viewer)

My winch won't free spool, so I need to open the gear box and clean out the coagulated oil and grease. But I noticed that the gear box side plate doesn't make a perfect seal with the gear box housing (i.e., gear oil leaks out). Shouldn't there be a gasket sandwiched between these two parts? If so, where can I get one?

I have an old one like that (6014) and fixing to do a rebuild on it this winter. Herm the overdrive guy said he sells rebuild kits i think it was 150. Think he said he makes new bushings too.. Haven't bought it yet. Still fabing up mounts.

Here's a link to the rebuild kit. Notice that the kit contains a large gasket for the gear housing.

As far as I know everything is original. I think this is the last model before the 8274 came out. Thats the best picture I could find. I still have not rebuilt it. It works just fine and have another project I am working on.
