I did a few searches to see what the wheels and caps from a FJ40 look like on a 1st gen 4runner but didn't see any examples.
Is anyone familiar with a build or have that wheel setup?
Stole a picture from another thread.

It's all about the backspacing. Do you have stock steering? Stock brakes?

Tons of info here on this.

@G-Cat's 4Runner has FJ40 wheels and hub cabs on it. Looks fantastic.

That is pretty cool

I’ve run them on an 86 mini truck and the 89 4Runner. @Manhattan runs them on an 85 mini.

The disc brake 40 Series Land Cruiser wheels work fine on any Toyota 4x4 through the early 90s that came stock with 15” wheels...which I believe is all of them.

Solid axle (1985-) and IFS (1986+)

@Jasonredwood
I know this is an old post now, but this thread inspired me to run steelies on my 1st gen.
Hopefully you were able to grab a set for your own rig!

Looks like he did, and it looks great.

G-Cat I have an 88 4runner and am looking for this wheel. I've looked up the part # as 42601-60072 for 15x5.5 but what is the backspace and did you use a spacer on the front? I love the way these look! Nice job.

Not sure on the backspace but the dimensions of these wheels haven’t changed since the 1960s.

They are stock wheels for 40 Series Land Cruisers. They are the only 15” steel wheel with hubcap clips that Toyota sells in the US.
