I recently purchased my first 80 series 97 40th edition. It needs some tlc. First things first the previous owner slung a rob through the bottom end.

I have a 1fzfe 93-95 bottom end. The plan is to take the good head from the 97 1fzfe i have and put on the good 93-95 bottom. Anyone have experience with this or know if they are compatible?

Any tips or information is appreciated. This will be my first engine overhaul, more like a budget parts replacement. Luckily I have some buddy's who know more than me that are willing to lend a hand.

Just a few pics to show her off

As far as I know they should be compatible. Make sure 1fz block has the crank position sensor Attachment. If it does not you might not be able to. Pls send pics of both blocks from the oil pan side.

You might be able to sell or trade the 1fz block for a 1fzfe block. Some might want the 1fz block.

As said above, the crank pos sensor is the only difference, and I'm not sure if the tone ring on the crank is transferable to the 1fz crank.

To show my lack of knowledge on the subject what I actually have is a 93-94 1fzfe bottom end and a 97 head.

The post has been changed to reflect that as well

You will need the accessories like the manifolds intake and exhaust from the 95 97, you’ll need the oil pans and have to deal with the crank position sensor . Lot of work to do 93 94 into 95 97 , other way 95 to 97 into 93 94 is pretty easy

I believe the CPS mount it part of the upper oil pan. Hopefully the rod didn't go through that.

I've heard that the OBD I to OBD II is a pain, but can be done.

If it's just a block for block swap, it shouldn't be a problem provided you keep the 1997 head and above and 1997 lower oil pan and below. The pre-1995 had PAIR, a different intake system, etc.

Part# 11400-66041 shows compatibility from 1993-1997, but I'm only a TRD Amateur. Perhaps @Onur or @cruiserdan can shed some light on this?
