Not quite, actually quite far off base. Dish soap is not optimal. Clay, IPA (automotive alcohol) wipe down, buffing (at least one step), IPA again and then coat. Also, ceramic/graphene/metal oxide and off-roading do not mix. If you leave the payment, sealant and wax are the only way to go.

OP, wash with Optimum No-Rinse (wax or no wax). Clay. Seal (CarPro Reload or something similar) and then wax (Collinite 845 is king). In ideal conditions, protection would last 6 months at a time. I am an installer for IGL ceramic and SPS graphene/metal oxide coatings, so hit me up if you have any paint maintenance/protection questions.
 
Pretty good.

Used Collinite after a buddy of mine did some correction work on the whole truck.
