Hey everyone, I just finished debugging a no start when hot on my truck that was driving me crazy.

My starter is no bueno, I did change the plunger and contacts about a year ago and really haven't used the truck and I would like to replace the whole starter now.

My questions is: Will a larger starter from an 93-95 (4.5L) work on a 91 or am I stuck with the tiny starter (1Kw) ?, are there any options of a larger starter motor for a 91-92.

You mean the "tiny" starter that has been starting the 3FE reliably for the last 30 years?

I just don't know if the parts are interchangeable, I need a new starter anyway.

This is no longer the original starter, this is a replacement . I was just curious if there was an upgrade for it, that's all.

OEM remanufactured is still available for roughly 100$ Part number. 28100-60070-84 no upgrade as far as I know. A 1 FZ FE starter wont work in a 3FE
