Hi all,
Been active for a while on this forum on the 100 series section, got bitten by the cruiser bug and now I am venturing further into the FJ40 territory šŸ˜

I already own a 1982 FJ40R-UC (soft top) with factory PTO, floor PTO switch and factory diesel switch panel on the dash which I intend to keep as long as I can.

However, lately I have been lusting over 1960-1969 body style and I intend to get another one to add to the stable, and this time itā€™s gotta be a hardtop, naturally because I already own a soft top. The problem is, all decent shape 1960-1969 hardtop I could find for sale are either offered with too much work to do or exorbitantly expensive for my wallet. Just yesterday somebody offered me a fully restored 1964 Soft Top with a super good price, so I am contemplating about just getting that 1964 soft top and convert it to hardtop. I am not too concerned about originality on the new addition because I intend to keep my 1982 as original as possible, so I intend to play around with the 1964 while keeping it reversible if desired/needed. The big question is, as far as I understand (I might be totally wrong) 1964 is a changeover year for the tub shape, older tub shape will only fit the corrugated side hardtop and later tub shape will accept the flat side hardtop??? If I remember correctly I read about that on this forum. I know corrugated hardtop is next to impossible to find and Flat side hardtop is dime a dozen. I need help from you guys in identifying the 1964 being offered to me if that particular truck will accept flat side hardtop or not.
So without further ado, enjoy the porn:

Anyone please? Seller is getting anxious for me to decide.... will this 1964 canvas top tubs accept hardtop readily?

That does not appear to me to be a 64.
Wipers are wrong should be 2 motor job
No lift up flap below windscreen.
64 did not have side indicators that i am aware of.
Possibly should have one piece drop down tailgate.
Hood hinges different.
Running boards not from a 64.

I have a 64 FST and a 70 FJ45.
Most features match the 1970 model
Hope this helps

That's not a 64.

Not even close.
Maybe a 68?
Looks like a frakencruiser...

The hardtop only fits up to mid 65.

I have a 64 almost finished being restored.

Just saying...

Absolutely gorgeous trucks you have !

Thanks for everyoneā€™s suggestions, hints and comments!!! Much appreciated and now I know 200% more about identification of the sucker thanks to you guys!! Sorry for taking so long to get back here. Unfortunately this Covid-19 pandemic has put everything is screeching halt here and with money stop moving I also have to put everything on hold. I have told the seller about me backing off the talk and I can see that the truck is still left unsold. Canā€™t say nor plan anything right now, just hoping that this pandemic is over soon.
Stay safe folks!!

looks like a 1964 tub with a few newer parts like 1966-1974 windshield frame and similar era aprons. The reverse light thing is weird tho...
