Well if anybody’s got a P/T stock or near stock 3FE within 100 miles of Oroville/Sac or Bay Area I’d love to drive it!

100% power to one axle Instead of 2 sounds nice, and my driving conditions do not merit Full Time. but I hate to mess with OEM specs...

I completed my desmog plus full tuneup, and changed all fluids including axles and greased everything smooth as could be. Using 91 octane I'm holding 14mpg on the highway.

Flew up the mountain today doing 70 in a snow storm. Could barely hold 55 before the desmog and tuneup. Nomad VB is next.

Living in western mountains I require the full time 4WD aspect of these rigs, but could definitely see not needing it a lot of places. I rarely use 4WD in my Tacoma on road trips, away from the mountains, warmer lands, etc

Are there any write ups on the desmog?

Hi Folks,
1991 FJ80
181,000 miles on 33x12.5x8 Hankook ATs
Location: Southwestern, AZ
Lots of little (and/or big things) to work on.
Got 8.5 MPG on my first tank. Idle also runs high in Park and Neutral (about 1,200 RPM) compared to other gears.

Welcome to the group. I have a '91 as well. Recommend you invest in the factory service manual. Invaluable!

For the high idle I would check this screw
1920258
1920259
mine generally settles around 580-600, so turn the screw all the way in and see what happens and adjust accordingly, also do you have stock gears? I was thinking of running 33s on stock gears but I am unsure of how it'll effect the truck

There is an effect, but not enough to push me to regear.
