Rebuilt both of mine, great winches and the used ones are getting hard to find at a reasonable price.

This was new on my dad's 1976 F-250. It went from there to his 1980 Power Wagon, then to his '86 K20 pickup, then to his '93 Dodge Ram 3/4 ton. That was his last truck. I got this winch in 2002. It lives in an ARB Commercial Bar. It it designed for fleet 80's without flares and the 8274.

Great thread! You guys that have modded your ARB on a 60 Series to accommodate this Warn, what did you do to make it fit?

Thinking about it, I don't recall having to modify the ARB the mount the winch, but at my age I have a hard time remembering what I did yesterday... So I pulled out the receipt and discovered my bar was purchased setup for the 8274. I think I might have had to order it, but not sure.

I have the newer ARB bumper, purchased in 2015. A Warn VR10 resides in it at the moment, not a bad winch for the money but I have always wanted the famous 8274.

What goes together better than an FJ40 and a Warm 8274?

It gets worked too. This was a firewood getting trip. So I keep a steel line on it.

Had it rebuilt by warn about 5 years ago. Works so well now. Love it.

Does that motor just bolt in or do u have to modify the housing?

Bolts in with the appropriate gear. Super strong motor, and the thermal protection switch is a nice feature too.

I used my 8274 to winch out a dead and buried 7000# skidsteer from the front yard of my house. Single line pulls, took about an hour. Had to strap the rear of the truck to a tree. Only issue was that the charging system couldn't keep up, lol.

My 8274 bought new in 1983. Freshened it up about 10 years ago.

My WARN 8274 rebuild part 1.....

Still going strong 36 years later. I have it on my '70 model 1/2 Cab and have used it many, many times to extract people, move things, etc....
IMO one of the best winches ever made. Thinking seriously about getting a new one for my Cruiser.
