E-brake drum removal drained transfer case (1 Viewer)

Hey Guys!

Just wondering. Is it usual for the transfer case to pretty well entirely drain if you remove the parking brake drum?
 
And why do you want to drain the t-case by removing the parking brake drum?
 
Awesome thanks for the quick reply guys! I figured it was usual, as you said the output shaft is attached to the drum. That being said I didn't want to get it allllll the way back together and have to pull it out again if it wasn't supposed to. Thanks again guys!

@reddingcruiser LOL I didnt take the brake drum out as a means of removing the TCase oil. It was a byproduct of changing the parking brake cable.
 
jacking up the truck can prevent some of that.but they usually need changed any how
