Prep has definitely started for my lx450.
Last month I bought 315 mud terrains
This month I bought the 1/4 inch steel plates for underneath protection of my trans and transfer case.

Next month I should be getting the lockers and possibly regearing.
Then it will be a matter of rebuilding the axles and bolting everything back up and be ready to go.

Those skid plates look pretty familiar.

:hmm:

Mrs. MountNGoat’s Black 80 is coming along nicely. ARB bumper and Warn winch went on a couple of weekends ago. Last weekend was removal of the sketchy homemade sliders from the PO and installation of White Knuckle sliders. They are bolt-on and HD. Having seen them constantly put to the test on the Rubicon on @JohnnyOshow22 ’s 80 I know they work well. A few more things left to do to finish off this truck before June. @justintpryor ’s white 80 in the background talking smack to it I’m sure.

Why no diamond top plate? Would have kept Mrs. MountNGoats heels from going through and the mud at bay

Friction tape on top ala The Goat is all she wanted!

That friction tape takes off skin!

I just recently had a set of sliders powdercoated with a textured powder and it removes 95% of the slippery when wet problem. Surprised it worked so well.

I had friction tape on top of sliders once. It seemed like a good idea until we discovered the unwanted friction on shins and knees and etc was worse than the desirable friction on the soles of the shoes was good.

In life there's good friction, and bad friction. That tape, while highly effective, is bad friction and has cost me a lot of leg skin. I like the idea of something limiting the mud that gets thrown up the side of the truck

Well, knock on wood JP aka @justintpryor and I haven’t lost any skin yet. But people have slipped off and knocked themselves out, concussion and all. So, I’m going to risk the rash. I never found the diamond plate on @JohnnyOshow22 ’s sliders nearly as solid as the friction tape. And given Mrs. MountNGoats, uhhh, state of vertical challengeness anything that’s going to help needs to be over the crest from the top of the bar just a tad. Looking forward to seeing @Cruiserdrew ’s textured powder coat.

I just spent half a day in the Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology in Nagoya, Japan, today and am even more pumped up for Rubithon!! My Valley Hybrids attire was a big hit (@orangefj45 !!!), and led to lots of inquiries about my trucks, which led to action pics from Rubithon, which led to TLCA, and all were well and truly amazed. A few pics:

So many more pics I could put up. If you ever get to Japan, this place needs to be on your To Do list.

That museum is incredible. Great work Steve. Did you get over to the Mothership at Yoshiwara?

No I did not. Spent the day at the museum. Pretty sure work will take me back - I will go then.

Nothing major but with limited time I am slowly chipping away at my prep list. Mostly small stuff for now until I tackle the lockers, gears and axle rebuild next month.

Bought a new compressor, took the RTT off the 80 (by myself) and cleared up a bay in the garage. Mostly nick nack stuff but progress is progress.

To clear 37’s on wider axles The Goat needed to go on a little diet. Today at Valley Hybrids.
