My engine bay shows alot of original patina! and glimpses of the Spring Green it started with

the 3rd paint job on this one shows alot of age, photos make it look alot nicer than it really is! I would guess it was painted around 1990

Im not ashamed to admit my front seats are at an upholstry shop right now getting the full treatment, and I will be throwing a Bestop wrangler seat in the rear to haul my kids. I will throw some paint in the cab to prevent my kids from getting tetnis but the exterior of this rig will likely remain unchanged for many years.

Most of my old cars get some "interior refresh" while I leave the outside alone...
I want my family to be comfortable when we are driving down the road.

Mine has a decent look from a distance, and if this was still the original paint/color it would possibly stay like this. But with at least 3 paint jobs all in different colors on top of the rust, I think it is going to get de-patina’d some what. But not going to be a full on resto. It will remain just rough enough that I won’t feel afraid to take it out and use it.

It will be mechanically perfect and weather tight...but no changes to the outside except for steelies and some skinny mud tires.

@RYANBARNARD 's 72 we found in care of the original owner still. Cool lil truck, now with correct bezel and no diamond plate.

And hopefully a gas cap

The water bottle worked well. This was before it got trailered Home.

Gas tank is trashed.

Needs a tank, uppper thermostat housing, carb rebuild and a new radiator.

After that I’ll drop the oil pan, clean it and see if I can get it to start.

If not, it gets a refreshed 2F and I go on about a path I understand far better.

This one had some nice patina (and copious amounts of rot). Picture is mid process of extraction from the woods... I’ve got the hard top and rear doors from this one, not entirely sure where the rest of it ended up..

Do we consider holes patina?

I think a clarification is in order. If the rig does not move, then you can HEAR it rusting. So it’s just rust. If your rig runs, chances are you can’t hear ANYTHING over the engine, so it’s patina.:meh:
