So for those don't know me, I have been on MUD as an active member for over 12 years and up to until 2 years ago I was just a normal active member. A layoff from my day job, sparked me to go on a big parts search expedition.
My Toyota Parts search Expedition
This trip started Land Cruiser Heaven. LCH has been my side gig since then. I got fired from my first job because of LCH, then I got moved up to NoVa for another job and this has been my 8-5 for the last 18 months. Well life has a way throwing you a lot of signs each day from tons of LCH calls, texts and emails, stuff falling through the cracks, customers both happy and pissed, throw in family life, my normal job, a restoration shop stateside and in Colombia. You get worn down rather quick. Well to make a long story short LCH has caused me once again to be unemployed, but this time of my own choosing. I am finally saying goodbye to corporate America and with that my $100k+ a year salary to do what I love the most.
The most important thing in life for me right now is to follow my passions. Those passions are what started this whole ordeal to begin with. LCH has been moving along on its own without much pushing on my end and I owe it mainly to all my customers who have believed in me, I know it hasn't come without a lot of hiccups. But I owe it to this community for taking me where I am now. Not many are so lucky to do what they love. So to all of you out there wishing you were doing what you love, get out and do it. Life is too short to just let it pass. Ok enough of that, on to the build.
A customer of mine out of Brooklyn NY, approached me looking for a rig for his own escape. He wants a rig where he can getaway from it all at any given moment. What better way to start my getting away from Corporate America with a build for a customer who wants the same. Almost like it was meant to be. So after much deliberation, we settled on a rust free 1997 40th anniversary from Miami. For those that know me, 40th Anniversaries seem to follow me. This will be my 3rd 40th Anniversary build and Land Cruiser Heaven's first customer all out build.
The main objective of this project is to build a rig that will live trouble free for the next 25 years. We plan to completely redo the whole rig from the ground up adding some upgrades along the way. This 80 would be an ih8mud built rig as it will have a lot products and components from many ih8mud vendors this is my way of giving back to the ih8mud community.
Here are the specs of the current rig:
1997 40th Anniversary
298,000 on the clock
unlocked
ARB Bullbar
7" Led Lights on Bumper
Smittybuilt 12,000 lb winch
Smittybuilt roof rack
