Looking for a ride if anyone has room. I'm registered and can offer Technician Class ham radio license ... plus happy to help in any way I can! I'll get myself to the trailhead, but my LC isn't quite big enough to do the trail.

Bad Coco. The wife and I are planning on this years Rubithon event!!! Yes! and HECK Yes! My March and April Rubicon Snow runs were off the hook EPIC this year ( 12'-15' snow on-top of the Ellis creek bridge)!!! Do you need my flatbed to haul supplies into the springs this year? I'm going to contact Jack Rice to see if we can run Fordyce the weekend before (July 7-8-9?).

I signed up for 3 years with the new helicopter evacuation company. I will be sending in my registration application shortly. Let me know ASAP on the trailer--- logistics of bringing it down from WA / secure storage or loading it on the Tahoe side. Loading it could be a challenge. I expect to do my normal wheeling/ renegade/ hardcore/ escort/ parts delivery stuff again this year. Cheers. Desmond

Jack is down for a few months....left ankle, right shin bone...wheelchair bound for a while. Visited with him today at his rehab spot (and dropped off a few recent mags for him to read) and will see him again Tuesday. ZERO chance he'll be wheeling for a few months....in talking today, his target trip was October for the Trail Hero event. His rig is stored at Sand Hollow Offroad indefinitely.

Melting fast.

I went over (the surprisingly open) Monitor pass 2 weeks ago coming home from Az. Still snow up above 8000 feet, but more had melted than I had expected. The Carson River is raging. The South Fork of the American looks awesome too.

Outside of a small patch at the north end of Loon Lake in which Justin got stuck a few hours ago - seriously- ... the report is that it's snow free until the top of Walker Hill. I think we'll be in good shape.

Just a reminder, you only have 12 more days to get your registrations in without having to pay a late registration fee. Also, if received after the 7th, your shirts and hoodies will be mailed to you after the event.

Here is the link to the online registration: RUBITHON REGISTRATION | TLCA

You can still sign up for the event and get confirmation up until July 9th, and you can even sign up at the event, but I will not be able to answer any questions or send you a confirmation after that day.

I hope everyone has a nice Memorial Day Weekend and while you’re out there enjoying your holiday, take a moment and remember those that paid the ultimate price for those freedoms!

Thanks for your time and feel free to contact me with any questions.

So what's the snow situation like currently?
Looking good. Right now the trail is closed due to water level conditions due to the melt run off. That played a part of the date change. I have heard some are intending on doing the Rubicon on the original date, but would recommend them check with the El Dorado County website to make sure the trail is even open then. I think it likely will, but wouldn't want anyone to travel out and find out that's not the case.

Not sure what conditions will be like on the Tahoma side. I have some friends that are attempting over the Memorial Day Weekend and will post up here the report.

I still haven't received your registration. I resent the link for you. I must receive it by June 7th to have shirts for you. Are you still going to be able to join us?

What are the chances of the Tahoe side being open to the Springs by then?

:hmm:

You can get to the Springs from the Loon side now, sort of, apparently...

Have something cool for all participants at this years Rock Chef. Get signed up and get yours. Same goes for the judges!

This years ingredient is super easy to incorporate!

Howdy everyone! With the kick off of Rubithon just 23 days away, I just wanted to remind everyone that even to just use a propane stove, you will have to have a valid camp fire permit. There are 2 ways to get this. One is to stop at any of the USFS Ranger Stations and fill one out there.

The other, and much quicker way, is to go online and take the class. It takes mere minutes. Then you can print it up and you are all done. Here is the link: Prevent Wildfire - California Campfire Permit Online

There can be significant fines if you don’t have one of these. Just pack it in with your other legal paperwork in your rig. This permit is good until 12/31/17.

I’m looking forward to seeing everyone on the trail soon!

Feel free to call me with any questions. 530-401-0800.
