Been a while since I have been on here but figured this was worth posting. Finished my rattle can paint job! Sanded down all the rust from it being in upstate New York primed and painted. Now all I have to do when rust peeks through is sand it and throw more of my paint on it. I have about ten cans left over

Thanks! Color is Nutmeg and it's some sort of Rustoleum automotive acrylic enamel that I picked up at this place called Ollies Outlet. It was normally 7 bucks a can but I got it for 2. I got the LED tail lights from an Australia. They are the Narva brand lights. They fit inside the SOR tail light guards with just a little shaving with my Dremel. Had them on for about two years with no issues. Some other guys on here have done the same. They weren't cheap but I can attest to their build quality.@mags Paint looks great! What color is that?
What LED tail lights are those- I'm looking for some like that for the wife's 74 rebuild.
I used about ten cans of just that not counting all the primer. I did three coats so it's pretty well protected.Uh....... 10 cans left over! How many did it take to get this done?
Dang nice job
I think that's a factory support, my 78 has the exact same one.
Those are factory for all 40 series rigs. If your installing a Saginaw PS upgrade you would want to remove it.
You are the dream customer. Most people bring their frames to my shop to get coated covered in grease, full of nests, and with stuff that still needs to come off! We do it, and appreciate all the business we get, but guys like you are the ones that I like to work for most. It is really fun to take pride in what I do when the customer is equally excited about the project! In preparation to have my 1967 FJ45 frame powder coated, I vacuumed out the frame rails and hot water pressure washed it.

I do have this support on the front left frame rail that I believe to be added by a previous owner. Anyone know if this came from the factory? If added, opinions on whether or not I should remove it? View attachment 1449055
Pulled it out of my shop..................put air in this tire.................adjusted the rear brakes........drove it about 10 miles........pulled it back in the shop ...........I need to drive it more.

Pardon the sidetrack but.... is that wheel you pumped up the tire around factory paint or if not what color?
AND... you really should drive it more - entirely too clean
That engine looks like it just came off the assembly line in Toyota City Good Luck with it.

Thanks! The guy that built this is very detail oriented (just what you want in a machinist) and has rebuilt many F motors. RV cam, decked head, balanced etc, etc. for $2600. I thought that was very reasonable. He even offered to come over when I get ready to fire it up and help!
@cult45 : I think one of the episodes in the sequel should be a short film of the dad being told by his wife that they are out of milk & need some more, and that he needs to go to the grocery store to fetch some. And the camera shows us that he is currently busy doing something else; as in, sitting behind his computer and perusing through the IH8Mud forum. We can tell from his not paying any attention to his wife that he doesn't really want to drop his back-&-fourth interaction with the Mud forum to simply go to the grocery store. But the camera reveals the wife's scrowled face - and the man is shown deciding he had better go & do what she says. ... So, we now see him snagging his car keys off the shelf in front of him, there next to the toy model of his own FJ45; he kisses his wife on her cheek; and he heads out the front door of the house to his awaiting rig. And... and the remainder of the sort film is of him driving to the grocery store - - which happens to be a loooooooog drive around the entirety of Australia. ...Will there be a sequel?
A trilogy?
Would like to see the flash back to when they were bickering back and forth how dad wanted something done a certain way and son didn't ... or the camping trip that ended with everybody going home unhappy
Or the sequel where son calls dad to ask car advice even though son already know the answer
More!!!
