Sorry if this has been asked before, but the information I have been able to research sometimes contradicts what the next piece of information is. I simply want to upgrade my rims and tires to 16 inch and am getting different backspace sizes for what will work. Has anyone put some relatively inexpensive 16 inch rims on their 60 using aftermarket rims or what is the reality of the backspacing needs to clear the caliper etc?

Try 4wheelparts.com. I bought black steel 17" Pro Comp wheels with BFG MT's for a decent price. They knew the correct backspacing for Cruisers.

That's the route I took for my '86 FJ60.
& that's what I want to get too! ...As soon as my tires wear out... I wish they'd wear out faster!
I know my pro-comps fit with 3.75 backspace, but I needed to have a heart to heart with the calipers and a grinder.
