I really like the stance, just right
Thank you! I wouldn't mind if it was about an 1" lower. I'm at a 21" frame height right now.

Looks great. What do u have left to make it really road worthy? Front shocks. Anything else?

Front shocks will be done today, have the day off and anti wrap bar. Still up in the air if I want to reuse or build new.

It looks like the rear is sagging a little. Optical illusion? I just picked up my DOM from the shop, they didn't even touch it even though I called several times and each time they told me they would have it on the lathe that day. I just got fed up and took the tube. I brought it to Rex machine, they seem pretty legit. Pretty cool big ol old school machine shop. When you getting the skid plate?

Tore the old stock shock mounts off today and put on the Ford mounts. I was starting to get irritated with the rivets!!

Anyway, no work pics just an after! Sure does ride a lot better with all 4 shocks in there!

Long time no update, been busy with a new born and a job change. Thanks to @White Stripe I got the TBI running great. Also drooling over his fj40 gave me some motivation to get back to it.

Measured for bump stops today and checked clearances of everything for the first time since soa and new axles/shocks

I have a pretty decent sized list of things to do still, anti wrap bar, lots of resealing, 4:1 gears, some wiring etc, but progress will be even slower as I am working on a serious budget so I will try and do all the cheap and free stuff first. Sorry in advance if the updates get boring!

Well not a very hardcore tech update but I did use an old gps I had as a speedometer. Cut out a trim bezel and attatched to the unit then placed it in my gauge cluster. Pretty happy with the results. I also put a CEL in place of the brights indicator. Saw it in another cruiser for sale on Craigslist and loved this idea.

I have been so busy with our daughter. Being a dad has been the most amazing experience this far. Really looking forward to sharing my off-road passion with her.

Man can’t believe I haven’t really touched this thing until today. Looks like the last time I drove or worked on it was back in the end of October.

I drove it down to work and had my wife pick me up so I can leave it here for a few months and work on it with any down time I might have. I am a mechanic by trade, so having access to all my tools when I need them, plus a lift and a heated work area will be invaluable to getting things done.

I am the king of unfinished projects. So 2018 will be my year of only finishing, not starting ANY NEW PROJECTS. I have made a pretty comprehensive list of things I’d like to finish up. It’s a little over whelming, but I’m really looking forward to having everything working, and working well. Unfortunately the hardcore updates are sort of tapering off at this point. Getting everything organized and sorted out appropriately is my number one. I don’t have a ton of time for wheeling, so being able to drive it and actually enjoy driving it will be my overall goal.

Another small update, picked up a obd I Bluetooth adapter to run live data on my phone for the tbi also working on wiring up the dash and gauges finally. Incorporating a few more things into the stock cluster.

Also got some 1.5” wheel spacers on I’ve had stashed away for a little while. Really happy with the look now.

Another small update. Yesterday when I was watching live data from the tbi, I noticed I only had 11.9v. I’m not sure if it was the alternator or the voltage regulator, but I had a 10 or 12si alternator sitting in my work bench from another project. So I notched the factory bracket and wired it up today. 14.4v at idle and double the factory amperage.

Today I got the wiper switch wired up, I started wiring this thing 9 years ago, I got it to a good enough place to putz around and called it good. Well Im finally making good progress and finishing up the loose ends that the “old” me left for the the future me. How nice of me to do that.

Also, got my tbi computer and Bluetooth module wired and mounted. I ended up ditching the factory cluster for something totally different. NOT quite done but I’ll show the finished product hopefully by the end of the week.

I have two big projects that id really like to get done soon, rebuilding the exhaust and wrapping it, and the antiwrap bar. These will make it a lot more driveable and wheelable.
