Its that time of year again! This year Ruby Thaw is in the planning phases and is coming quick so start getting your rigs ready.

When: Feb 17-20th 2017

Where: Nordegg Lodge (same place as last year)

What: Another Ruby Thaw. Day on ruby lake trail and a day on that other trail + some other exploring.

Who: Another OCC event this time with more chooch from the RMLCA

Why: A great time and fundraising for trail harndening projects in the Alberta trail systems. Rig mat purchase as an example for trail out in the Ghost region trail north west of Calgary.

So story would be the same as last year.

Friday Feb 17th:

· Travel to nordegg

· Check into hotel

Saturday Feb 18th:

· Breakfast at restaurant. An early one so we can hit ruby trail head earlier

· Drive to ruby lake trail.

· Aim for Ruby Falls for lunch

· Drive back to lodge

· Dinner in restaurant at lodge

Sunday Feb 19th:

· Breakfast at Restaurant

· Drive to that other trail

· Do that other trail Eric led us on...

· Find some other cool spots…

· Back to lodge

· Restaurant for supper and raffle

Monday Feb 20th:

· Drive home… on your own for breakfast

You need to bring:
winter gear
a great attitude
Trail snacks
your own social post trail beverages
a vehicle with solid tow points
a tow strap

Cost per person/bed will be 200 for the weekend and includes:
3 luxurious nights accommodation....(standards may vary)
All your food for Saturday and Sunday including trail side lunches.
A super wicked awesome swag bag

Please send expression of interest in the event and or registration requests to tylerarnott@hotmail.com. We'll need to collect fee's by February 10th in order to secure food and accommodations.

We did a bit more exploring this summer down there. There are some mild trails south of the Small Boys reserve Ruby entrance. I believe the Edson ATV club maintains them. Unfortunately we didnt get too far that day as I was the only truck and the creek crossing was not worth the risk, would certainly be game to check it out a bit more.

Very unlikely I'll make it this year. :( Maybe I can send some money for raffle tickets from afar?

Lets hope for great weather!!

I would like to come, but I will have to check my work schedule. If it's on one of my weekends off I can probably make it, if it lands mid-shift prolly not.

I noticed that you do not have chains on your list or requirements.

Ha ya we didn't need them last year much. They can help but with some of the rigs coming I think we can still manage.

Yes I'll start collecting them soon. An Email transfer sent my way is likely easiest. I'll need all funds in by Feb 10th to secure rooms and SWAG bags for all entries.

Enters fees are due this week folks. Sign up so we can firm up numbers

What's the entry status at?

Well looks like we'll be 11 rigs or so and about 18-20 people:
1. Tyler
2 Charla
3 Paul
4 Tom
5 Dean
6 Adam
7 Salmon
8 Peter
9 Craig
10 Kevin M
11 Marc R
12 LJ78 member
13&14 the LJ78 guys buds
15 Jason
16 his kids
17Leo
18 Leo co pilot
19 Kevin S
20 Jackson

Rig I'm betting are:
81 HJ47 troopy
77 FJ40
199? HJD80
1991 HDJ81
Passenger seat
81bj42 or 88HJ61
Early 80's pickup
LJ78
1990 HDJ81
1993 FZJ80
1981 BJ42
That my best guess so far.

Edmonton departure schedule/convoy?

I was going to order tire chains but I've been low on cash w/ a move and added costs. talk me into them if I'll need them.

Just sent payment (E-transfer) to the above email for two bodies.

Now to prep the 42.... I'm going with 33's and no chains. Last time I went winter wheeling I flopped her over on the right side. Kinda hoping to avoid that this time!!

I wouldn't fuss much about chains. Should be fine on the all terrains.

I think with the pending heat wave we may be dealing with wet snow and a little mud.

Anyone heard any snow reports out there?

I'll be ready to leave anytime Friday. Char finished work around 5 or so. We could be leaving anytime after that if I planned ahead..
