Where: Meeting at the Ba'Ja gas station on highway 87 > west of the Verde river crossing/across the highway from the Ft. MCDowell casino.

When: Jan 1st, 2016 > Meeting at 8:00am and departure at 8:15. please allow enough time to get there ~

What: Sunflower Mine Trail

Thanks to Inkpot for the latest and greatest Sunflower Mine info (just there again yesterday with the TRAL team clearing and fixing needed areas!). The group has been very active on this trail since it opened up very recently. After talking to him and the changes in the trail, I advise the following:
* notice * This is a difficult technical trail for experienced drivers only. 35's, preferrably a rear locker and armor to protect from possible body damage. The trail has many areas that will require spotting through. Off camber, narrow shelf road, and a tough boulder field.

It was suggeted to run it counter clockwise going in on 201A and coming out 25A.

Game on for 2016!

Man I wish we were going to be back!

I did this run a few years ago with Murf and others, had 33's, no locker and with proper spotting made it through. Great run.

This good article points out in the bottom paragraph that this trail has changed its rating from an 8 to a 9 (out of 10) since the fire and flood closed it years ago. A skilled driver like Crudzz should be good with 33's.

I will still honor the group imposed "murf deductible" of spotting the first $25.00 for any body damage repairs. Per vehicle per run. ;)

Marc Rudster is here at CBT, and Im trying to convince him to join us between all his dates and wild single life!

And he claims to be at home by 8:00pm tonight

Home by 8, with who?

Murf, can you get a locker installed on my 80 by end of business today?:)

you can see I said "locker preferrable" > just 2 foot gas/brake - that'll do it!

As Rudster points out, it is the Archer not the Arrow.

Sunflower Loop is significantly more entertaining than it was before the fire several years ago. TRAL has made multiple trips up there recently to repair the closed section. We have received approval from the Mesa District Ranger to remove the Closed status. A Tonto Engineer rode with me up there all day Tuesday to review our work and he was happy with all of it. There are still more things we want to work on to improve sustainability, but the trail is legally open. I have run it all the way thru 4 times recently and I look forward to more trips up there. It IS a blast!

Will sit this one out. Been chasing the dreaded HG problem and confirming each day that I have been driving it more symptoms indicate the HG is in its early stages of going. Have fun guys and safe wheeling.

Well, I will be partying for New Years until at least 1am, I have no lockers and am running wimpy 33" tires, so I am IN.
I will see you guys at Baja, bleary eyed and in need of good spotting:steer:
