Link I've always seen this dealer selling 80's for pretty crazy prices. Does anyone know about how trustworthy they are? Seems like they have clean trucks. I called and they say that mechanics "go through the truck to make sure there's nothing wrong with it." That doesn't really hold much water but whatever. I asked them if they have any maintenance records from the previous owner and they're said "no, but check the carfax report posted." Well I guess there's 20 years of no maintenance records, so that doesn't help at all. Ha. Anywho, thought I'd get your guys' thoughts on this dealer? I'd very much rather buy from one of you guys since I trust you guys more, but haven't had much luck this past year for what I'm looking for.
We're seeing ridiculous pricing coming from some not-so-ridiculous builds, and also ridiculous pricing coming from some clean builds but also unscrupulous sources. So, 80-series enthusiasts - what constitutes an 80 build that can command such ridiculous pricing? Here's some "high-end" examples (I was on an LX450 kick to match my LX470 100...but LC's are similar): '97. No triple-lock. 113k miles. "Built." Seemingly excellent condition. $34.3k. 1997 Lexus LX EXQUISITE LOW 113K LX450 80 SUPER HIGH END ICON ARB OME | eBay '97. No triple-lock. 156k miles. "Built." Seemingly excellent condition. $43k. 1997 Lexus LX EXQUISITE 80 SUPER HIGH END ICON ARB OME OVERLAND EXPEDITION | eBay '97. No triple-lock. 85k miles. Stock...
No affiliation https://www.ebay.com/itm/1997-Toyota-Land-Cruiser/303433956512 JT3HJ85J5V0169989 Be aware that this seller has the nasty habit of rattle canning the underside of his vehicles. You can see what's going on with this pic: Seller is careful not to show any pics of the upper hatch and the front of the radiator support. And there's something going on with the running boards. I hope somebody doesn't overpay for this 80, thinking that it's some sort of museum piece. Here's another truck that this seller pulled the same crap on: https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/1995-fzj80-on-ebay.1163846/
No affiliation https://www.ebay.com/itm/1994-Toyota-Land-Cruiser/293249784867 New Jersey used car dealer states "RUST FREE ALL AROUND" underside has been heavily rattle canned with undercoating obvious rattle-canning lurking engine bay tells the real story wears snow tires: Interior looks consistent with the low odo.
The BIN is $17,900 Looks super clean. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1997-Lexus-LX-No-reserve-104k-miles-for-TX/192965560121?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160727114228%26meid%3D986d5c1cab914350bc72a5668f05d07f%26pid%3D100290%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D4%26mehot%3Dpp%26sd%3D192965560121%26itm%3D192965560121&_trksid=p2060778.c100290.m3507
Selling my 1996 Toyota Land Cruiser. Mileage is 325,000 but the truck is very clean, better than most with 1/2 the mileage. Interior is nice, the driver's seat had the typical side tear, I had it replace with vinyl. The passenger seat could use the little plastic gear but the leather is not ripped. Photos show the interior. I can't say it is perfect, but considering some of the other rigs I see for sale, not too shabby. Under carriage is in very good condtion with just a touch of surface rust, but again in comparision very good condition. Has the typical oil leak, but not enough to add oil inbtween oil changes. Small leak I clean up on my garage mat every other day or so. You know the deal. PHH is unknown status, so I guess that...
