Nice rig mate

you're right those turn signals are cool! I'm flying out to vancouver tomorrow morning and driving alll the way back to calgary over the weekend. wish me luck! I'll take pictures of the truck on my way and post them up here.

Im Home!

so I finally flew out to vancouver saturday morning and met my truck. she was beautiful, everything i could have hoped. she starts and runs awesome, the trip went without a hitch, tow, or flatdeck trailer, just a few too many gas stations. first thing to go is that bench seat, it comes off a volvo car and makes the small cab smaller. and at 6'4" i am not small. it made for a slightly uncomfortable 2 days of driving, but so worth it.

i will start a rebuild thread in a week or so when i get started on it. not much needs to be done to make it drivable....brakes, some weather stripping, seat and floor cover. otherwise there are a couple rust spots i may pay attention to some time. one problem i must ask you cruiser experts is the bed. it is rusted through on a couple of the rails ( ill post pics later ) what i want to do is cut out the bottom of the bed and put a wood deck inside the box, so that i still have a box, just with a wood base. I'd like to stay original, but a replacement center piece is a bit above my budget. Im thinking a full restoration will be left to a future owner perhaps. so is the wood deck a decent idea?

Bring that sucka to our Landcruiser club meeting this Wednesday. We meet at the West Hillhurst Comm. Center at around 7ish, upstairs behind the bar. We all want to see this beast.

There is a guy, Awl Teq on mud, in Calgary that makes replacement parts for the bed. They are very reasonably priced. See his thread at this link.

I know what you mean by cramped cab. :D

Thanks for the plug Kevin.

Marty - I've got one center floor section left from my first production run. But if the center section is gone you likely need the corners also. You should stop by my place this week and let me take a look. If you're just wanting to patch it up rather than fully restore I'd bet I can keep it to a budget for you.

hey thanks, who would figure I would find bed replacements right here in calgary.

kevin, i will do my best to be there this wednesday. this week is busy enough for me because its my last week of trade school (im an electrician) but i will find time to fit it in i'm sure. also, how much do you want for that seat, if you bring it along i'll bring cash with me.

I'll drag my but down to the RMLCA monthly meeting and bring my seats for you to eyeball. It'll be my first meeting too. :D

That's okay - if you don't want to see them I won't bother to bring'em - Saves me digging them out anyway. Too many Kevins in the immediate area. I think there is another one in the club too.

I sent you my home address the other day via e-mail. My shop isn't really my shop. I work at Allied Metal Ltd. located next to Golden Acres garden center in the NE near Edmonton Trail and McKnight Bvld. I am the shop foreman/ programmer/ purchaser etc. etc.... I use the companies equipment to make parts and stuff I need in my so called spare time. You can stop by any time during business hours or call first and drop by my house to see my truck.

Kevin (not 45Kevin :D)

hey fellas, i was watching the vintage toyota commercials from the sixties. i think most of us have seen these. i'm almost certain that bezels were placed thin side top or bottom. anyone else see this?
