I havent really had much to do with turbos, my CT26 seems to be having some problems so I am sussing out weather to replace or repair.

My intake tract is VERY oily, I have fitted a good oil air separator which seems to be working well and directing oil to the sump.

Intake is still oily and if the engine is left idling will puff blue smoke when you take off and some under load during driving too.

Took the turbo intake pipes off, I cannot feel any axial movement, but there is about 0.25-0.5mm radial movement, the compressor turbine does not appear to touch the housing though.

In the snow the other weekend, the overboost light came on the I was getting a strange noise, could this be turbo related too?

I have attached some photos of the compressor wheel, does this look normal? How would I go about replacing the seals in the turbo? are there any guides out there, a turbo shopped wanted $1000 plus! I will also be replacing my engine oil pressure relief as I can easily get over 100psi oil pressure and cleaning the turbo oil return.

The motor had a incar rebuild about 30,000km ago with a new cylinder head fitted at the same time if that makes any difference.

The blades look right for a turbo that's done a lot of work. I honestly don't think you have a problem with the turbo itself, check your crank-case pressure and oil drain.

A high crankcase pressure prevents the turbo from draining oil properly which can lead to it coming through the seals.

Check where it is ventilated into the intake . There is a tube ,It is probably plugged with oil-coke. I have never seen a 13B-T covered in oil like that, but I have seen a few 1HD-Ts like that. If the original turbo is fine I would put that one on and take the 1HD-T turbo off.

oil catch that is baffled solved my problem.
clean it right up and add one.
If your still getting a the oil get it checked out.
clean all your intakes too going into it of all the oil so your not getting a false read

Checked my oil drain and is was clean as a whistle, replaced the oil pressure relief too, I am going to re-route my crank case breather to not go back into the crank case and make sure it does not cause any crank case pressure to build up. I might even hook a guage up to check crank case pressure. Should it be about 0psi? Or would I expect some pressure?
