Will 2H cam work in 12HT?

I asked a local engine reconditioner here about it. He says there are 2 cams for the 2H and one can be ground to suit the 12HT cam profile.
He said he could only tell which one was suitable by measuring it.

I got an update on that info. The 2H cam that can be ground to a 12HT cam must have the same grooves in the bearing journals as a 12HT,so they are probably in vehicles of the same years that the 12HT was produced.
They need about 40 thou taken off the bottom of the lobe

Thank you Ross. I may have to go this route if I can not locate a 12HT cam soon.

Anyone got any suggestions for a supplier of the 12HT cam?

Well I'm going to answer my own question. I found a new 2H cam today, last one in US. Dirt cheap compared to a regrind. Having looked at specs of 2H and 12HT cams, it's just a matter of how well it will perform. Since I don't know anyone who's got a 12HT and they are few and far between in N. America, I'll never know the difference. At least I'll be driving around now.

Thanks to you guys that helped me out. More to come on the subject at some point.

FYI, I've been told more than once in my part search that both camshafts have been discontinued.

Personally, I'd run the 2H cam. I don't think you're going to miss too much. I've mixed and matched turbo and non-turbo cams in the oh-so-well-loved 2LTE and 3L and there was not much difference.

My vote is to just do it and let us know what you find out.

Hoping for the best outcome!

I think you would as there is about 40 thou difference in the cam grind

There are lots of 2Hs around that are running valves set to looser than that...

When there are no other choices, what is one to do?
