What can I use of a b motor on a b3
I need an injectors on my b3 and I have a spare b motor .

I had the same thing, a B after '80 for parts and a 3B to be rebuild.
I used the camshaft, the rocker arms and the oilpan from the B and put them in the 3B.
The oilpan from a B enigine before '80 is useless on a 3B
I know for sure that you can't use the crankshaft of the B in the 3B.
The starting enige and the alternator are the same.
Injectors i don't know, i just put in new ones since it was open anyway and they don't cost that much money.

I remember there was a thread about this question a while back.

lostmarbles has a great thread with lots of pics and interchange info on exactly this subject.

I tried to search but didn't find it. I'm sure Mr. marbles will show up and point you in the right direction, just be patient. :)

And here is "yours truly" with a link to that infamous thread:

https://forum.ih8mud.com/diesel-tec...7cc-b-3431cc-3b-parts-interchangeability.html

I might just add some information that's surfaced here to that thread too (- So thanks for this :))

And my 1979 BJ40 shares a lot of stuff with a 3B-powered BJ42 so I think the interchangeability probably dates back to 1978. (In other words, B engines used in 1978 and later BJ40 cruisers share a lot of parts with the 3B engines used in 1981 to 1984 BJ42 cruisers.)

But if a B engine came from something else (other than a cruiser) then I am not sure the same commonality (if there is such a word) of parts applies.

As far as the injectors - You'll see from my thread that I SUSPECT they are common to both engines because my replacement injectors have "3B" stamped on them.

I would say - that if you find both your engines have "1800-bodied injectors" then they are indeed identical.

Please post up what you find.
