I'm putting my 1985 FJ60 project up for sale. I've been working on this project for about 8 years. During that time I've been lurking on the forum, learning and researching but not posting much at all. I've brought this truck a long way from where it started but now the time has come for it to find a new owner who can finish the job.
When I first got the truck it had two rusty cylinders which lead to a referesh of the engine with a good running short block, rebuilt head and everything else replaced. The fuel tank was full of rust too so it was electrolytic cleaned and coated. The frame had rust, so all of it was cut out and heavy gauge steel was welded in.
The body of this truck was rusty, there is no denying that. I have cut every bit of rust I can find out and replaced it with metal. The rockers were mostly gone so those were replaced by 1x3 thick wall rectangular tube that was coated inside and out. The lower fenders were bobbed and matched to the new rockers. All 4 doors have had their bottom inch or so replaced. I had local sheet metal shop bend new repair profiles from an un-rusted sample. The roof had the usual corrosion, with the worst part being over the passenger side cargo window. I sourced a rust-free replacement section and paired that with new drip rail profiles from the same sheet metal shop. The rear quarters also had the usual corrosion over the wheel wheels so patch panels were used there. The rear quarters were also trimmed and custom block off plates were fabricated and welded in place. I did all this work myself, using .023 MIG wire and a lot of patience. Where patches required they were properly butt welded in. The entire body exterior was chemically stripped to bare metal and coated with epoxy primer. Where appropriate factory spot welds were simulated using plug welds. All of the old seam sealer was removed form the gutters around the roof. The gutters were then media blasted, primed with epoxy primer and re-seamsealed with 3M products. The doors, fenders, hood, hatch and tailgate were all bodyworked off the truck. All remaining rust was remediated, metal treated, then the panels were primered, filled, surfaced and blocked until straight. I painted all the jambs in the original Toyota sliver. Then the panels were reinstalled and realigned. I have used PPG products throughout this build to ensure the metal was properly protected and to ensure longevity after it's finished. The body is now about 95% ready for paint. It needs final blocking and wet sanding. I have not pulled the windshield yet, but it was my intention do so prior to paint. I just don't have the time or energy to complete it the remaining work.
I have over 450 photos dealing with every step of the repairs on a Flickr album:
FJ60 Flickr album Nothing is hidden. This is not a pristine desert climate truck, but it could be finished to be an amazing FJ60 rig.
I have all the parts taken off the truck in storage. The original upholstery is in very good shape, with only the side of the driver seat bottom needing attention. I can take photos of all those parts if there is interest. A new owner will need all new weatherstripping, a new headliner and new carpet.
This could be a great opportunity for someone who is ready finish the a project their way.

The truck runs and drives. Comes with an additional (not perfect) hatch and tailgate. I'm open to questions about it. Photos attached to this ad are how the truck sits today. EDIT: phone number removed after reading the forum scammer FAQ thread. My name is Mike, please just contact me through this forum. There is probably a lot of stuff I've forgotten to add . There is still a lot of work required to finish this truck but I think it has a lot of potential. I'm flexible and open to offers.
