-Overview

This is a GCC-market 1998 Land Cruiser 100 Series, HDJ101 chassis, VX Limited trim, Saudi-registered since December 2000, powered by Toyota's 1HD-FTE 4.2-liter turbodiesel — a factory drivetrain configuration that was never officially offered on the Land Cruiser 100 Series in the United States. Now 28 years old, the truck is eligible for the 25-year exemption from federal EPA and DOT requirements, subject to applicable import procedures; buyers should confirm current requirements with a licensed customs broker or Registered Importer before bidding. The seller has owned the truck since November 2025 and has documentation for more than SAR 19,245 ($5,132 USD) in recommissioning and maintenance completed during that ownership, detailed below.

-History and Documentation

The truck is the fifth owner from new. Its first Istimara (Saudi vehicle registration) was issued December 17, 2000. A vehicle history report from Elm — Saudi Arabia's equivalent of Carfax, drawing on national traffic-authority (Najm) records — is available, covering ownership history, periodic inspections, and recorded odometer readings; the most recent report is dated October 30, 2025, and the seller can provide a full English translation.

Two incidents appear on the Najm record. The first is dated February 21, 2013, prior to the current seller's ownership; no further detail on the nature or extent of that incident is available to the seller. The second was logged in 2026, during the current seller's ownership: according to the seller, the vehicle sustained no visible damage in this incident, though contact with another vehicle was registered with Najm. The seller does not have before/after photos from this second incident. Aside from these two logged incidents, the seller reports no current mechanical or cosmetic flaws. According to the seller, the chassis/frame has never been repaired, replaced, or structurally modified.

-Exterior and Factory-Original Details

This truck retains an unusual amount of original factory equipment for a vehicle of this age. All glass carries its original Toyota markings. The front turn-signal lenses and headlights are original Toyota parts with factory branding intact, as are the rear tail lights and fog lamp. Both front and rear bumpers are original Toyota pieces, and the hood and tailgate struts are original, clean, and fully functional. Japanese-language stickers remain in place under the hood, throughout the interior, on the doors, and at the rear of the vehicle. The door mirrors carry their original Arabic-language caution text, consistent with the truck's Gulf-market origin. The roof cargo basket is original Toyota equipment, complete with every mounting screw and part-number tag, though it is currently removed and stored in the cargo area; it will be photographed separately and is included in the sale.

The original factory paint had faded from years of sun exposure; the seller reports no accident damage or rust was involved. The truck received a full exterior repaint and cosmetic restoration using a Duxone automotive refinish paint system in a professional oven-baked process under warranty, including bodywork preparation, wheel refinishing, interior trim respray, door alignment, and an underbody polish and coating. No rust is present anywhere underneath; undercarriage photos show only surface dust.

-Recent Mechanical Work

The seller has documentation for more than SAR 19,245 ($5,132 USD) in recommissioning and maintenance completed since taking ownership in November 2025. According to the seller, the truck retains its original engine and transmission — neither has been replaced.

-Engine and cooling system: complete fluid service (engine oil, transmission fluid, coolant, differential oil, washer fluid, air filter); sealed oil and diesel leaks with new valve seals and injector base seals; a second repair to a recurring oil leak; new diesel fuel filter; new thermostat with hose cleaning; new valve cover gasket with engine cover repair; new radiator hose between the AC condenser and engine; radiator re-cored with a new end tank; new OEM radiator cap; new plastic engine cover; engine bay cleaned and degreased.

-Electrical: two new batteries, both under a year old; new front bulb; new left and right corner/indicator lights (Depo, OEM-spec); headlights polished and refinished internally; new rear license-plate lights; new amber LED side-marker lights.

-Suspension and steering: the factory rear AHC (Active Height Control) hydraulic self-leveling suspension has been removed and replaced with a conventional ARB (Australian) suspension setup — a modification, not a factory configuration. New Shaheen-brand tires, under a year old, were fitted along with a fresh wheel alignment. The steering wheel was rebalanced and the steering fluid replaced.
Tires, battery, and paint are all still within their respective warranty periods.

-Modifications

The factory radio has been replaced with an Android head unit supporting Apple CarPlay, paired with a backup camera mounted on the rear bumper. An aftermarket oil catch can has been fitted. American-style window tint has been installed throughout, including a fresh front tint.

-Interior and Equipment

The VX Limited trim brings a well-equipped cabin: five cloth seats with power-adjustable front seats (fore-aft), heated front seats, cruise control, a power sunroof, and power windows throughout. Interior detailing has been performed twice, new floor liners were fitted, and the steering wheel and center armrest were reupholstered. The drivetrain pairs the 1HD-FTE turbodiesel with a 4-speed automatic transmission, full-time four-wheel drive with a dual-range transfer case, and a locking center differential. ABS and traction control are both fitted. The engine maintains normal operating temperature during driving, with no overheating, no black smoke, and no unusual noise from the drivetrain.

-What's Included
-One key & Original Toyota tool kit and jack (photographed)
-Roof cargo basket, original Toyota equipment, disassembled with all hardware included
-Partial paper service records, including an Arabic-language invoice for the thermostat replacement and photos of OEM parts packaging (thermostat box, radiator cap box) — most independent workshops in Saudi Arabia do not issue formal invoices, so this is a partial rather than complete paper trail

-Location and Import

The truck is located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. As a 1998 model, it is eligible for the U.S. federal 25-year exemption from EPA and DOT requirements, subject to applicable import procedures; buyers should confirm current requirements with a licensed customs broker or Registered Importer before bidding. The buyer will be responsible for export documentation, international shipping, customs clearance, and U.S. titling and registration. The seller is able to deliver the vehicle to the port of Dammam or Jeddah to help facilitate export.

my dream truck. im only going to buy one that's already in the US, too many uncertainties with getting it here. GLWS

Frame number indicates it’s supposed to a JDM RHD truck.

HDJ101 was never for a non-Japan market. HDJ100 would be for ROW outside of JDM.

Was this converted from RHD to LHD?

GCC trucks would have been HDJ100 with a 1HD-T engine.

GCC never received a 1HD-FTE in factory form.

It's very possible it was converted in Japan prior to export or upon arrival in the Gulf, as it was registered in Saudi Arabia as LHD back in December 2000. The conversion was done over two decades ago using OEM Toyota parts, and it has been driven seamlessly as LHD ever since."

So, this isn’t a GCC truck. It’s a JDM truck that was imported. Don’t lie and say “consistent with its GCC origin.” There is nothing GCC about this truck.

If the “chassis and frame have never been modified” how would a RHD to LHD conversion occur? The entire steering and frame would have to be modified along with the entire dashboard and the entire firewall.

Saudi Arabia and GCC regulations strictly forbid importing or registering Right-Hand Drive (RHD) vehicles. Because this vehicle was officially registered, titled, and inspected in Saudi Arabia back in December 2000, the LHD conversion was completed before entry—likely handled in Japan by export specialists or as a special order to meet strict Gulf entry criteria. It has Arabic mirrors, Middle East documentation, and GCC registration going back 25+ years.
When I state the chassis/frame has never been modified, I am speaking strictly about structural integrity: no accidents, no frame pulls, no major damage, and zero rust. Changing steering components and dashboard panels to LHD using OEM Toyota parts does not compromise the structural frame rails. This is standard practice for many JDM imports operating globally, including many driven in North America.
I have zero interest in misleading anyone. The frame tag explicitly says HDJ101, the engine is the factory 1HD-FTE, and the vehicle is a long-standing LHD conversion registered in KSA since 2000. Everything about this truck is out in the open.

This is definitely an original JDM RHD vehicle. It was probably converted in Yemen, Oman or UAE and then brought into KSA.
The sun visors give it away, the driver's side typically has multiple decals as seen in photo, and of course the HDJ101 designation.
If it was converted in Japan, the visors would have ben swapped too. :)
