Hello all i am new here and this is my first post i figured i would go all out and tell you my story of retaining my 4runner and what all i have done to it.
In November of last year i was in a wreck in my 93 Pickup. It was lifted 7 inches and had 33's. Well my girlfriends dad manages a shop fairly close by and he fixed her all up for me. After that my back started hurting and i was told that i had to have back surgery. There was no way that i was going to be able to get up in the truck and drive a manual trans. In late March i sold that. Then in April i bought my black 1998 Limited 4wd 3.4l. I was so excited to have a 4runner of my own. Always thought that they were too expensive but my father has an 04, 3rd gen is better in my opinion.
I plan on doing a couple mods to it. Some of the mods include
1. changing color of inside dash lights. (already done orange)
2. 3 inch lift. I've seen that you can use trd tundra struts and fzj80 front springs if anyone knows how this works and what years to use and where i could get them from please spread the word.
3. Wheels and tires. I'm wanting bullet hole with beadlock with bfg mud terrains
4. Bug guard to help protect hood and cover up a tiny dent.(bought one for $10 at local dealer it has a little ding on it but it works just fine)
And others
When i bought the truck it had 213,000 miles with timing belt changed at 193,000 miles. Since then i was under the truck and i looked at the rear wheel and there was grease all over the back of the brakes. I figured it was the rear axle seal so i went to the store and bought all of my materials. I had done this before so i knew what i was doing to an extent. When i pulled the axle out, it turned out that it was the dust boot. So i had to run into town to a machine shop to get them to press off my bearings. Well it turned out that the idiot who owned the truck before me put an 04-08 model axle in the back on the drivers side. why he only did one is beside me. so i fixed all of that mess and shes running great.
Ohh i forgot to mention that the day after i bought it the muffler went bad and i had to put a new one on. I decided to go with thrush welded. It sounds way better and more fierce than a lot of other trucks.
A couple of days ago i did a little mod to my grill. The Satoshi mod looks great on the all black truck. it was very simple to do and only took about five or six hours. And In my spare time i sanded down and painted my hubcaps and filled in the toyota emblem with black paint.
I love this truck and i cant wait to get started fixing er up.
