I have been searching for a parts/farm truck for a couple of years, and finally found this 91 with 230K, wrecked in the rear and drivers door. It runs great and it's perfect for converting to use on my fish farm. Here it is before surgery

The plan is to remove the rear doors and cut out the body back to the D pillars. then install a flat platform in the rear. I want to keep the roof so I can haul stuff on the racks. here are some pics of the carnage so far

Hah I've seen that one on CL a couple times. Missed a $500 94 over here a couple months ago. Ran the idea past my wife about buying it and she gave me a hell no. Sucks cause it only had a overheating problem.

you want to keep the roof so you can haul stuff on it, but by cutting out that middle pillar you have dramatically reduced the strength of the roof. Cool truck and cool ideas though!

Yeah my :princess: said I should be banned from Craigslist, it just feeds my addiction lol

I'm guessing I could get over 500 lbs up there without a problem ( one rack above the d pillar and one right over the b pillar), but pretty much the only thing I will carry up there are net cages around 40 lbs

Build a roll cage.

Thats a hell of a deal. What part you from? Get choke family FBI. Puna, Waimea, Hilo. My daughter is attending UH Hilo right now. I might send her a LC for her to go holo holo. Ah right! Aloha.

New here, but: Was the nature of the items you expected to transport such that the C-pillars have to go?

I would not put much on the roof. Too much structure gone. 2 cents MIke

Just a thought, but you may want to reinforce the roof if you plan on putting much weight on the roof with the C-Pillars cut out. Other than that Awesome build, uh I mean tear down....:D

This truck will never be driven on a public road again and wont see over 30 mph

Hey busmup I stay Puna side, get plenty LCs on craigslist here. Lemme know if you ever need me to look at one

mostly 5 gal buckets of fish and seine nets, I need easy access from all sides

yeah I might just try a weight test to see how much it will hold lol

I fully approve of this build...my kind of "deconstruction"

That's high praise coming from the master of removal. I was torn between making a street legal pickup or a dedicated farm truck. in the end, sanity won out. I really don't need three street legal trucks

Made some more progress today. I got the drivers side cut out and installed a floor made out of some random maple ply I had laying around. The floor might be worth more than the truck:hillbilly:

Has anyone mentioned that the weight carrying capacy may have been reduced by your application and use of the sawzall??
