This topic is very played out, but I feel I have a little piece to add. If this has been recommended before mods please delete. First of all listen to the multitude of threads talking about doing this correctly, you will save so much time and energy. Also assume that every nutsert and rack bolt are fused together. My rig was located about as far away from the rust belt as possible and low and behold I discovered rust. Also it does not take much to spin your nutserts, I read hundreds of posts on removing this rack and still did not realize how easy it is to spin these. Literally nothing more than a semi firm twist with a hand screwdriver and they were done for. My recommendation would be to cut the rubber boot that rests on the roof completely off. When you look at the rack it is obvious, the whole thing is stiff rubber that I coaxed off with a dull leatherman blade. Even if you wanted to keep the factory rack I'm sure you could find some source for new boots. After you have removed this boot you will be able to access the nutsert/ bolt union directly and spray with PB blaster. Give it a while and go in there with some vice grips or channel locks, you will be able to see or feel where the nutsert top lip is. A little bit is exposed above the roof but it is enough. Lock on and go slow. Also if you do spin some out and they are on the sun roof side the tin foil catch someone suggested is the sh*t. By the way this only applies to the rack nutserts you are on your own for the ribs and spoiler. Mine were all good
