Ok for some reason I thought this was a good idea for someone on this forum building there truck, I have since then forgot who that was....anywho......

This is a dual tranns this guy has, great idea if you ask me way to many benefits as opposed to a costly TC doubler and diff gears.

Some people are opposed to low gear sets as they may be thiner and increase the chance of breakage with this you can run 4:11's, 4:88's etc with 38's or larger and still have correct gearing (so so anyway, NO COMMENT on speedo correctness)

Tennessee Off-Road: My build starting

Simply run you front tranny the same way, and your rear in any 1st through 5th, TC in low or high. Add low or dual cases to your hearts!....

How to compute gears: MULTIPLY (x)

1st-3.95, 3.95 x 3.95 x 4.10 x 2.28=146/1 :grinpimp:
2nd-2.141
3rd-1.384
4th-1.0
5th-0.850
Rev. 4.091, 4.091x4.091x4.10x2.28=156.5/1

TC (x)

high 4: 1:1

low 4: 2.28

x final drive or ring and pinion gear ratio...

Duh! now I remember another benefit,

I once planned a set of unimog axles on streetable tires and moderate lift, only problem was the extreme gearing from under size tires and the low low 7.56 gears. By placing the rear tranns in 5th this wouldn't make the gearing so low for DD routine ;)

You really need a Ex Cab or LWB truck since the rear drive line will be super short. Justin(Unbreakable) was the first running truck with it completed. I watched it do a red trail at Paragon backwards.

G series would the most ideal as they are the shortest of the toy trans. They came in the carbed trucks.

Thats what i have is a xtcab and sorry for being duh , but how do you connect the 2 trannys together ?? sorry what year truck would have that other tranny ??

I'm trying to figure that too, when I get time I'll get a friend on that site to ask exactly that Q

The guy said it only cost him $80  so far, next thing its working and inside his rig  he kinda left something out.....

*EDIT* I read that wrong he did it with skrap he had laying around

I've heard of this mod, just haven't seen it yet.

I wonder if a G series can be mated with a W series?

I'm running the origional G52, but have a W56 that I was going to swap in because the 2nd gear syncro is going out. If I did this swap, I could run the G behind the W and it wouldn't matter since I'd be in 4th gear most of the time in the rear tranny, and I'm sure you wouldn't shift the rear all that much when offroading.

The second tranny need to be of the removable bell housing variety.
Contact csudman on the pirate forum for an adapter. He was selling some rescently for about $250 EA.

Oh and from what I have read most faliers are due to the frist tranny being run in lower gears than the rear. Example: 1st trany 1st gear 2nd tranny 5th gear. You can leave the second tranny in ,for example 3rd gear and shift the 1st all the way to 5th before finally shifting the second into fith for a 1:1 ratio. Be shure and down shift the 2nd tranny back down to atleast 3rd before downshifting the first tranny lower than its 3rd gear, or the higher/weaker 5th gear will strugle to hold the load
to mate the 2 trannys together you need to trim the pilot bearing pice from the 2nd tranny and use a flapper wheel on the splines of the 2nd tranny to allow the 2nd trannys input shaft to slip easier into the 1st trannys output shaft.

No I haven't done it, but this is what I have gathered from research.
