Hello Everyone,

I’m new to posting here but have been around for a while now, reading, researching and, looking for the right car. Finally, I found it. A 1986 BJ74, Black with White FRP Roof. It’s done 265,000 KMs on its 13B-T. Overall, it’s in a pretty decent condition. It took me over a year to find one in this color configuration in Pakistan. It’s pretty stock as far as I can tell. I do have some plans though. I’m not entirely sure about the whole process yet and would really appreciate informed advice from fellow members. Please feel free to fill me in if I’m missing something.

Here is what I have planned. Firstly, I'm in the process of ordering a complete suspension set up from ARB Australia. If ordered sometime in November, the parts will take 4 months to arrive. This is what I've finalized so far.

Front Heavy Load Spring x2. CS006F.
Front Nitrocharger Sport Shock x2. 60009.
Spring Bushing x2. OMESB1.
U Bolt x4. OMEU51.
Greasable Shackle Kit x1. OMEGS2.
GreasablE Pin Kit x1. OMEGP1.
Trim Packer x1. TP01.
Steering Damper x1. OMESD24.
Steering Caster Wedge x1 OMECW2.
Rear Heavy Load Spring x2 CS004RB.
Rear Nitrocharger Sport Shock x2. 60062.
Spring Bushing x2. OMESB1.
U Bolt x4. OMEU59A.
Greasable Shackle Kit. x1. OMEGS2.
Greasable Pin Kit. x1. GSP01.
Steering Caster Wedge x1. OMECW2.

I have chosen the Heavy Rear Springs because I plan to put the extra weight there later, in one way or another. If anyone has any advice about what I have here, before I order, it would be appreciated.

While the suspension arrives, here is what I’m planning:

1. Remove, Repair, Weatherproof & Paint the FRP Roof.
2. Remove, Repair, Rustproof & Paint the Body.
3. Remove, Repair, Service, Rustproof & Paint the Suspension.
4. Remove, Repair, Service, Rustproof & Paint the Axles.
5. Repair, Rustproof & Paint the Frame.
6. Remove, Repair & Service the Front Disc Brakes.
7. Install 1997 HZJ75 Front Disc Brakes.
8. Install 2005 4Runner Front Brake Calipers.
9. Install 1997 HZJ75 Rear Disc Brakes.
10. Install 2005 4Runner Front Brake Calipers.
11. Replace the Body.
12. Install 1997 HZJ75 Engine Mounts.
13. Install 1997 HDJ80 1HD-FT with H151f Transmission.
14. Install 1997 HDJ80 Brake Booster & Master Cylinder.
15. Install 1997 HZJ75 Rear Brake Lines.

I have further plansbut, let’s just get to this point first. Do I have everything right so far? Will all the things above fit? Do I need anything else? Many long hours researching has led me to believe that what I have planned should work but I’m sure, I’m probably still some way off though. Please fill me in.

I’m looking at approximately 2-4 months of work starting 1st of November. Mainly the body work first, during which time, I will be sourcing all the mechanics. Being in Pakistan, there is no shortage of all kinds of Land Cruiser parts. For example, In Peshawar, I can get a 1997 1HD-FT with H151f, from Japan, through Afghanistan for about $5000 US. Furthermore, my line of work, in Dubai, is the auto parts industry. We are one of the oldest, largest and, most reputable auto spare parts dealers in the United Arab Emirates. So, sourcing from my own dead stock will return with most items. I plan to keep the electrics 24V, as they are now.

If anyone has done this build or a similar build before, your input is invaluable. This is my first attempt at anything like this and, I am really looking forward to it.

I'v
e attached some pictures of how the car looks now.
Bye for now.

Just wondering why you are going to to do all those modififcation to the brakes?
The HZJ75 brakes dont stop any better than the BJ74 brakes.
The secret to getting any 7* series to stop is getting the back brakes working right
