Just got done installing them earlier today. It was a pretty straight forward install. My question is, how tight should these be?

Need a pic!

The website where you bought those say 20-30 ft/lbs. I tried 25 and they seem to tight. Maybe I will try the method of just when they start to compress.

What are the simptoms of them being too tight? I will go with the start to compress method then. Thanks guy's.

Dont do them too tight! I didnt torque mine but did them up a fraction below very tight (LOL), and the front two now have visible fractures in them.... Need to replace one day....

If they are too tight, they will not be able to bend and flex as much and absorb the vibrations to isolate the body from the frame. I would think if you really tighten them down you would feel more vibrations from the road.

I like the idea of just when they compress.

I paid just around $200 for the new blocks and bushing with hardware. You want to replace everything if you are doing it (bushings & blocks). Most of the bushings just fall apart when you are taking everything apart.

i installed this same lift a few months ago. you will notice what overtightening is. the bushing will buldge. just take up all the slack and go like one more turn to snug. you will be happy with them

here is my writeup:

Sounds good, BTW thanks for the link that exactly what I used for the installation. I took some more pics today I will post them up later. I paid $197 and that was including the shipping.

When buying a body lift kit ( 1 to 2in), do you have to replace the shocks, or anything eles?

No shock replacement necessary. With 1" lift, only the fan shroud needs to be modified. With a 2" lift, there are probably some more things that need to be fiddled with to make it work. There are a bunch of posts on here about body lifts, esp from Roger Brown.

So the tightening issue I got some information on it. If you look in the picture above at the bushings, there is a metal sleeve inside them. If you install them correctly with a washer above and below the bushings that metal sleeve keeps you from over tightening them.So you actually want to torque them to 20-30 ft lbs like what is on his website. I would stay on the low side below 20.

They are made so the washers sandwich the metal sleeve and there is still flex and bend in the bushing but it keeps your body attached to the frame good.
